QUESTION on Cable/Satellites...

RyanH

New member
The cable company my condo highrise offers sucks. I want to get a Satellite through either Dish or DirectTV but I was told today that the satellite must be facing west for both providers......my condo is on the east side.

Rules of my building don't allow satellites on the roof, thus it appears that I'm stuck with this cable company unless some satellite provider exists that allows for east reception....

Anyone know of any others, or have any other suggestions. It appears I'm stuck.

Thanks,
Ryan.

two things, try doing a search on google and/or check the yellow pages in the back of your phone directory. ours points south but i live in the country so that makes a difference. just try one of those two. you live in atlanta right? i'm sure there are plenty of satelite providers in that area.

If they don't allow it on the roof, what makes you think they will let you have it on the side of the bldg?

Have you checked that policy?

Most Condo's force you to use a centralized provider..

It appears you are stuck.

that are plenty of companies who install them, but Dish and DirectTV seem to be about the only companies offering the actual service......They told me my side of the building was in a deadzone, because DirectTV and Dish have their satellites in the west, while my condo faces east. I just don't know if there are any other reputable satellite companies.

Fortunately, I can place the satellite on my balcony as long as its not extremely conspicous, and I have a pretty large balcony for a highrise.

There was a thread on DSS a while back, and if I remember right, all dishes in the northern hemisphere have to have a southeastern facing. I'll try to find the thread and bump it.

Southwest if you're in the eastern U.S. I believe DirecTV's satellite(s) are in geosynchronis orbit on a latitude that bisects Texas. I could be wrong on the specifics, but it is in that general direction.

bro, PM me and tell me your zip code and i'll tell you exactly where you should point it. satellite piracy was my first venture into the "illegal" world. I would personally go with directv, find an old h card adn computer and build an emulator, then you get all the chanells for free and don't have to pay for shit, hell i get more free porn than you could ever imagine. As for mounting it, there is a law passed by the FCC stating that a tenant CAN receive satellite programming via a dish by placing it on a balcony. The property management may tell you that you CANNOT mount it to their building or property in any way, but all you have to do is buy or build a stand as i did and put the stand on your balcony, then they can't do shit. its a law bro, YOU CAN have a dish at any home rather you rent or own. let me know your zip and i'll tell you your exact elevation and azimuth settings.

Do what I did man if you cant get satellite call the cable co and lokk into getting a digital box.

I have like almost 500 fucking channels(even though 400 of them are useless).
