Question for you religious types

So Matthew 5:28 says:
"But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."


So.. first off, does this apply to single men? can you really committ adultery if you are single?

Second, say you are married, and you see a chick and are arosed, but its a sub conscious thing, are you held liable for that?? It would seem to me that sexual arousal is not something that is consciously controlled. You cannot "will" an erection anymore then you can "will" it away.

Also, does looking at porn count? I look at porn but don't want to sleep with the women, I just use them for my own satisfaction.

Please tell me, I am concerned I won't get my name written in the Book of Life and an eternity in hell with the Devil and his angels doesn't sound like a very fun time.

I disagree. Lestat doesn't believe because he is smart. Same reason I never believed, and then I saw some shit that would turn a black man white. I'm sometimes convinced, but other times, I'm like no way. Too many unanswered questions.

My main point by saying this was just to point out that debating or arguing the bible with someone who thinks all that is written in it is bullshit and are closed minded about it, is really pointless.

Heres an Idea.......

I think everyone else that has responded to you knows the bible and knows what is wrong and right.

You not so sure right? this is what you should do!

Pick up the BIBLE and read it and figure it out for yourself. If you so unsure and scared about were your going when your life is over...........I'm guessing your not living your life the right way cause if you were you would not be worried about where going.

Just a little something to think about :verygood:

I've read the bible, more then once... really what I remember is some brutal battled... dudes "hewing" others up..

a bunch of dudes torturing and killing the baby jeebus after he grew up.

I have stopped believeing in the bible as a literal document. I don't doubt God exists, & I believe in Jesus, but, I believe the Bible was put together as a book to help us lead our lives, inspired by God.
Really, if you live your life according to the Bible's tenets, you can't go wrong.
Spme of the stuff is just unrealsistic. You cannot control your lust & spontaneous feelings. You can control how you react to them.

To answer this seriously... You can commit any kind of sin, but there is some line in there about being "truly repentant" and I think this is the key. As long as you are truly sorry, you will be forgiven for your earthly weaknesses.

Of course if you use this as a loophole to do bad shit then pretend to be repentent, it probably isn't going to work out for you.

Just my 2c (who would have guessed I am religious as fuck in my own way!)
