Question about karma

Why does it seems like karma always comes in spurts? does this happen with other people too? is there like any lag in the system or something?
Like I'll not have had karma for a day or so, and then I'll get like 4 hits in a few hours, lol. Does this happen to anyone else?

Also... do people ever bomb other people just for the hell of it, or so that they will join platinum?
