Question about HRT meds

If i get regular shots can i get through MO rather than going to office very 2 weeks or month? Just curious. My dr will work with me. He will up my dose and/or my frequency from every 4 weeks to every 2 weeks. He told me one shot last 4-6 weeks. How is this so if the half life of test cyp is 10-14 days?

your going to want every week. you may have to shop around but you can get a doc to give you weekly.

by him saying every 4-6 and us going every 4 i think he would go every 2 but probably not every. any suggestions on what i might could say to help increase my chances. I know im only 27 but my test was truly low as I know of no way to cheat a blood test. especially when i was on est's test drive when the test took place

Have you checked with an Endocronologist before stepping into the HRT realm?? I still think your too young at 27, there could be other factors involved stress, thyroid, etc.

This is so easy
Here is the skinny on test cyp
1. In your system for 8 days tops
2. Every 2 weeks is a major waste of time...you are going to free wheel for a week in between that makes you feel like shit the ups and downs are not worth it
3. Just have him test you 7-8 days after the shot it will be low
then you just say to him ...now what you will have no test for a week
4. Tell him that you feel like crap, no errections etc because you wont anyway dont even have to lie.

The best way and the most optimum way is to keep test levels as constant as possible.
2x a week injections is optimum
1x a week injections is ok
1x every 2 weeks is last resort

you want to do less test but more often that's the idea to keep test levels as constant as possible.

well I initially went to doc for adipex for weight loss and ED pills. Lost 70 lbs got the meds. Meds worked sometime and sometime not. We did bloodwork and my test levels came back real low. I guess its not HRT but rather just test enhancement

HRT or not the protocols I mentioned is how is basically going to be.
Can you figure why your test is low?

i have no clue? I dont know if this is relative or not but I have my 3rd kid on the way. I would think low test would affect sperm. maybe not. I just know that I feel like a brand new man on test. I actually want to do yard work which I used to loathe. My wife says im in a better mood and I am

That's good you have a new renewed interest in life sort of speaking:)
Having kids is not really a good measure of testosterone levels. Your body can produce sperm with a low testsosterone levels..as low as 250 or even less.
But to feel good you need your levels to be more like 400-900 range.
I would try to get weekly shots if I were you. lower dosages like 100 or 150mg a week will cause less of a spike in estrogen build up and keep your testosterone levels more constant.
Test cyp will not be in your system for 14 days...realistically is more like 7-8 tops.
Docs like the 2 week interval due to the injection frequency not because it's most optimal way of using the product.
In time you will feel the ups and downs of 2 week shots but if you can handle it you can try it but im not too crazy about it.

I've been on HRT for 18 months...started at age 56. The 2 week deal didn't work well for me because of the "YO-YO " effect. I convinced my Dr to go with the 1 wk deal and that worked well. I eventually bumped the dosage a bit and went to 2 x a week. My Dr & I are the same age and have similar profiles so we compare notes. After about 6 months he started writing me and let me do my own thing injection wise. I run bloods twice a year.

My base HRT is about 150 mg/wk and I will double that 6wks on/off with a cycle. once I go beyond the base HRT for a week or 2 I learned my body likes PCT of Adex and HCGenerate.

All in all I am a new man in ALL respects and can thank this board for much of the education and insight that I have. Ther is much to be learned and I find that I learn something new every day.

strait, so when you say that your body likes PCT are you saying you totally come off or do you drop it back to 150mg/wk?

We all learn new things all the time for sure!

67 and been on HRT and stacked cycles for years.
Best test administration for me was:
- 10 mg bio identical compound topical every day. Continual smooth ride.
- 50 mg of any test, right cheek Thurs am and again left cheek Sun pm. Smooth ride after 2 weeks.
can/will doc give me rx and let me take an injection class or what not and administer myself? I am not against doing it at the office but its gonna cost more that way

How is anyone here supposed to know what your doc will do? Some will allow you to self inject, others wont. Instead of playing guessing games, just ask you doc, if he wont work with you find another.

i was not speaking of my personal dr. I was speaking in terms of any dr. I am 27 and always hear about being 30 for hrt. Just curious. My doc is cool. So if some will then that answers my ?

Varga - Here's my experience.

Doc set me up with 1.6ml Test Cyp (250mg/ml) every 3 weeks after initial blood tests showed Total T of 250 and Free T at the bottom end of the reference range also (sorry, but don't remember the number).
Once I was prescribed this TRT, I hopped on the net and did a bunch of research with regard to TRT/HRT. The general consensus among those posting on message boards is that more frequent administration is best. So, I thought I'd run the course my doc prescribed and see how it goes.
I get a "crash" at the end of the 3 week cycle (about 2 days prior to my next injection). Which would suggest I would benefit from a more frequent protocol. I was sure that my next blood test was going to show low, and that is when I would bring up to my doc, a more frequent protocol.
So, I just recently ran the next blood tests. Blood was drawn 13 days after the last injection.
Results: Total T = 775, Free T = 126. These numbers were slightly above my doc's reference range of TRT patients (Total T - 350-750, Free T 50-110).
My doc was really happy with the numbers.
He suggested that the "crash" I was feeling was indication that he wasn't overdosing me and the fact that it's only a couple days was indication he wasn't under dosing me.

For me (everybody is different), these numbers would suggest that the Test cyp is not only in your system for "8 days tops".

I still suggested to my doc that we move to a more frequent protocol, but he was happy with the outcome of the current protocol and wasn't willing to change, for now. I'm going to keep working on him though.

FWIW, I love the beginning "bump" of T.

*Edit - I want to add that I bought and use Need2's Forma for use on week 3 of my current protocol. It has been a huge success for me. The 2 day crash I was feeling is virtually non existent.

As you take more test like you do with the 250mg/week will initially spike your levels up then will come down and yes ...it will take a bit longer to come down than 8 dyas BUT the problem you might run into is the spike in estrogen and other hormons associated with higher dose of testosterone too. Im actually a bit suprised your levels are still that high after 2 weeks...your body must not be using much test:)
Also, body weight and muscle mass will too dictate how much test your body uses along with your methabolism. THis up and down will drive most ppl crazy including me and it is not what our bodies are used to normally....our bodies produce a little bit of test daily and to inject a large quantity at once for HRT creates other problems that most likely you are not aware of them now...one that comes to mind is cortisol and over time perhaps water retension and high blood pressure.
I do agree with you that everyone is different some ppl need very little test to get by some need more. However in general most ppl opt for a weekly injection of a lower dose of test 100-150mg. I rather have a level of 800 week to week rather then have 1400for one week and 250 for my last few days.
If that works for you it's fine stick with it but keep an eye on it

Thanks for the response Varga. I do agree that it seems more optimal to run weekly v. every 2 or 3 weeks.
I gotta say that the move to TRT has been one of the best decisions I have made.
I've never done an AAS cycle (considered it 10 years ago), so I had no idea of the "other" benefits that Test produces (more energy, libido, sense of well being, etc.).
I'm also making gains in the gym that I hadn't seen for years.

Oh, and to your points about estrogen and water. I'm combatting that with formestane (Need2's Forma)

I'm now considering "supplementing" my TRT dose :)

I know what you mean about feeling like a new man on TRT..been on it for years and the difference is huge :D
