Question about blood pressure

DOU12

I have heard the first number is not as important as the second. My BP is around 140/75 while not being on. I was at the doctor the other day and she said they have just recently realized that, that was untrue and the first # is just as important. When I am on my BP gets worse but the second # stays at a reasonable level. So what is the deal, is the first # as important. I also have had a nurse tell me that it is normal for my BP to be a little high because of my size. 6'6 265 pounds. Is their any truth to that?

My gal is a cardiac nurse....hence my wealth of knowledge in this area is supplemented by her (patting myself handily on the back :D).

Diastolic pressure is when your heart beats (lub dub...it's the lub part) Systolic is the Dub part (where your blood is waiting to be pushed in the arteries and veins....

think of it as push wait, push wait. the higher number is the push, the lower number is the static pressure while it waits.

High lower numbers is very bad and a key indicator of overall cardiac health (i.e. I've lived with low-90's for years, but it's genetic).....

High Diastolic (the higher number) is when there's excessive push from the heart or resistance in the arteries/veins......also an inidicator of plaque (or as we know it LDL's.....cholesterol).

Your lipid profile (HDL/LDL lipids) will be severly impacted by anabolics.....plan on doing several months of recouperative therapy. Get a great ND (naturopath) and they will give you similar advice that you see on the board....garlic, T3, more cardio and a handful of other natural remedies......

Summary:
The lower number is your first sign of trouble
The higher number is a sign of an impending problem, but not too worry.

Your mileage may vary,

Bo
