Question about abs.

I was curious.

I know this may be a ridiculously stupid question.

But what exactly makes your abs up.

As in. Are your abs always there, and you just need to lose all the fat to see them?

Or do you have to build your abs up to see them. I am quite confused.

Very retarded question I understand.

Both. You have to have a reduced amount of body fat, and the more you work your abs the more visible they will be. its like any muscle.

also, you can't manipulate the shape of your abs by "working your obliques more". Your abs are genetically shaped for you, and as previously stated they're like most muscles in a sense that you need to work them. Having said that, some people advocate big compound lifts for abs because your abs have to stabilize heavy weight. A lot of people have gotten good abs without ever doing a situp as well.

You can't actually do abs long enough to really get a fat burning effect do to the build up of lactic acid. Its anaerobic. Doing Ab work is different than any other muscle. Thats why you get a burning feel when doing abs but not on any other body part. So in the end, your abs are only visible do to low body fat. You can do all the crunches in the world, but unless you diet and cardio, you will never see them....However, its important to do ab work in order to maintain a solid core.

everyone has abs just take the fat away and you will see them!! Working them can help shape them an define them even more. JMO
