Q - Anybody here ever see a Chiropracter while on a cycle?

Eh guys, got a question for you guys, has anyone here ever been treated by a Chiropracter while on a cycle?

I foo'd my lower back up nice and good from deadlifting a few weeks ago. Anyways I have had some tests done with the chiropracter, and he has started to adjust my lower back, I guess I was twisted nice and good. i go twice a week, and am getting adjusted about 1mm each visit.

The thing is that my whole body is really responding to the adjustments. Hips, and and torso, and spine are adapting to the new positions, and there is lots of compensating that has been going on that is being released. I am honestly starting to feel better after each visit, although the first ones I just felt really fucked up, like I couldnt even walk straight! lol.

Now the thing is that I am continuing these for 1 month and having a re-evaluation. I am planning on starting a cycle TOMORROW. Havent been on in over 1 year, so as you can imagine I am looking forward to this. My question is, will the added weight, and muscle-growth cause any problems while I am getting adjusted over the course of a month? My thinking is that it will be actually be good for me, but just want to be sure. Any info from anyone. Like I say, at first I felt really unstable, but now its getting better, and the doc told me its key that I keep training. He says I should be moving my spine and strengthening my back in its new positions. But I am going to be "really" strengthening it, especially when the dbol starts kickin in lol... Just wondering if anyone thinks this is a bad idea. I really hope not, seeing as how this cycle has been pushed back for about 3 months now! grrrr.

Thanks.
Mavy

p.s. Did you guys know that Franco Columbo is a Chiropractic Doctor? I had no idea, but I was reading a Chiropracter book while waiting to get adjusted the other day, and I read a little blurb on him. He is a Doctor, and still runs a small practise out of California now. It showed a pretty cool pic of him deadlifting 780lbs. His spine is in amazing health even at his age i guess. You wouldnt think so with all the heavy lifting that guy has went through. lol. Just found it kinda intersting.

mavy i think you'll be fine bro. ive been seeing a chiro since i was in my late teens and saw him while i was on a var/igf1 cycle. not exactly the same as what youre talking about lol

if things are too tight, he'll give you heat or percussion to losen the muscle. ive also had electrozapping shit to loosen my back before adjustments. either way your doc will certainly be able to work around any size/tightness with no problems

Same exact thing happen to me, although I wasn't on a cycle while getting adjusted, but have been on a test and dbol cycle before. While I was on dbol at 30mg for the first 4 weeks, I did experience lower back pain, the back pumps where excruciating. I remember after doing just one set of dead lifts the pain was really bad.

I think it is good advice to be seeing a chiro during any heavy phases of working out - to help assure optimal joint function, to help achieve balanced development, and to nip any developing issues in the bud. No need to tell him of the cycle though, just say you are doing a new program to put on muscle or something to that effect, and you want to be sure you keep everything aligned as you push yourself harder and harder.

I used to see one when my company had insurance...:o

Then they caught me surfing Elite all day, and they let me go...so I stopped going to the Chiro then :(

I always felt rejuvenated after it (but I dont think it benefited my spine MEDICALLY speaking), it was more of the relaxed feeling I had after I left there...It was a good destressing agent :)

Thanks for the advice guys, K shower coming to everyone. I keep trying to tell myself that this Chiro stuff is a good thing, but it just feels so different after each adjustment. Gonna ride it out for a bit.

Term are you serious? You got canned for surfing elite? Why didnt you use the stealth mode or whatever the heck its called? Thats shitty.

lol .. rj .. you are living in a fantasy world pal. bwahaha I will let you think that you are cooler for today though. Gonna try the "cooking" in about an hour or so, I will let ya know how i make out.

Thanks again folks!

Well, from the other side of the table...

I do know several Chiro's who cycle when they treat patients so turn about is only fair play.

lol ... thats fair enough for me. The actually works with athletes only, and is accepting me right now cause its kinda slow. Im sure that I could bring it up with him, especially when he sees the transformation starting, and sees the difference at my evaluation in 1 month (I have to just wear a pair of shorts, so he will probably know unless he is naive, but I doubt it being a Chiropractic Doc for athletes.

Cheers,

I really fucked my neck up training back a few years ago. I literally could not move my neck until I saw a chiropracter and then I was 100% again. His office was in the gym I managed so he worked on me for free--EVERY other chiropracter (17 that I can remember) made my problem worse than when I went in--the only way I would see one if I were you is if you had a referral from a good friend

Eh bro, ya I was referred by someone who was treated by him as well. He says I have a lot of tension in my neck as well, and after fixing my lowerback problem asked if I wanted to go ahead with some neck adjustments. Seems pretty freakin scary to me though ... dont like the thought of my neck being cracked. The sound my back makes when being adjusted is creepy enough.

i have been under chiropractic care for 12 years- I go once a week, and will go for the rest of my life. I was in a motorcycle accident and chiro is a necessity for me. My last girlfriend was a chiro, and unlimited free adjustments did wonders for me. My x-rays today compared to 3 years ago are like night and day, my spine continues to improve. Anyone and everyone can benefit from chiro.

Once a week? damn, marry the girl! You will save much $$$...

My insurence covered 12 visits, after that, it would cost me $20 - $30 per visit. :(

as important as the spinal column is to your overall health I am surprised athletes are not more proactive in this area. you can have problems developing before you even notice symptoms, its kind of like getting your teeth checked IMHO. i believe most pro teams usually have a team chiro

caveat: I am a full-time student at a chiro college

Your spine controls bodily functions- if you have a subluxation ( basically nerve interference) it can affect pretty much everything from movement to digestion, headaches, the list is endless. Nerve blockage is like a tree that has fallen on a power line- Your body cannot get proper nerve impulses- a good chiro can find and remove the blockage.

I worked for a chiropractor, and I can tell you it works. Do you get neuromuscle stimulation and ultrasound?

Yes I have gotten them all. Thanks for the great info guys! The more I start reading up, the more i am starting to buy into this Chiro thing. The doc tells me that 90% of clients do it for wellness and prevention, not to treat pain. This may be something that I am going to look into long term, especially with the heavy lifting I like to do.

Its just weird how Chiros, are not so accepted by the medical community. They are grouped in with Physio, and massage more it seems. I think its basically becuase the medical community dosent know much about it. Its weird ... if I went to a doc about my lower back pain, he would have gave me some advil and sent me home! lol.

One of the coolest things that the Chiro was tellilng me how he adjusts his neck when he feels a cold or congestion coming on. Supposedly there is so much tension built up in the neck when you are getting sick, and freeing this up puts a major boost into the immune system. There is an older doctor there who has not been sick in 7 years. Very interesting.

I'm ARMY and I've been having adjustment for years now. Your muscle growth has no bearing on the adjustments the chiropractor is making on your spine. He's been trained to manipulate your spine in spite of muscle, tissue.....whatever. You can only prosper from having adjustments done, as heavy lifting throws off your spines natural alignment more so than the average person.

Don't stress, bro.

:chomp:

Man, I've been needing to see a good chiropracter for a long time now. Just havn't got down to doing it. It's about due time though! 10+ years of screwing my back and neck up. My lower back's so messed up now that I can't even deadlift or squat anymore because of the stress on it. Even heavy barbell curls are difficult to do. I'm just hoping I havn't slipped a disc or something?

Some chiropractors are total bullshit. I have seen a few, one of them was charging my insurance 200 bucks an appointment. I have been seeing the same one for the last 7 years now. Its called the ortman clinic. They have there own method called the Ortman method. Its worked wonders for me. Basically they work with the muscles rather than crack your bones. Figure all cracking will do is iritate the muscles and make them pull the everything right back out of place. Otherwise the second best thing I would recomend is go to a chiropractor that First doest want to see you like every other day, and also one that does massage too.Its sooo much better when the muscles are relaxed before the adjustment.

I WAS surfing it through what was then "Safeweb.com" (now defunct)...

But they blew some smoke up my ass about it being something else, but I knew better :o
I thoght about giving them some shitty discrimination lawsuit over it, but decided it wasnt in my best interest (and the job market for me was REAL good then anyway...)

lol ... sounds like you have been havin a little streak of bad luck bro. You should sue George for not protecting a platinum member well enough !lol (just joking of course George).

Yea, Ive actaully heard about them.Supposed to be really good.

Why dont you just wait until treatments are complete and you feel back to,or near 100% then start your cycle? That makes most sense to me,you waited this long.......

I have seen 6 different chiros, and some are definitely better than others. The chiro I see now is by far the best. No cracking, no forceful adjustments. He adjusts my atlas and various other points and when I leave I am limp as a noodle instead of tight, sore, and stooped over like an old man. When your spine is out of alignment it's usually because the muscles are pulling it out of whack. Most people are not born with crooked spines- When you "crack" your back, neck, whatever, it will temporarily straighten you out, but that is treating the symptom, not the cause. My chiro works with the nervous system to retrain the muscles from drawing back up at innapropriate times. Chiro is not a quick fix, I've been going for years, always will. I continue to improve, and x-rays that we take every year show my spine continuing to improve.
