If they dont dissolve in 30minutes then you should buy a different brand. This is because most nutrients are absorbed when passing through the small intestine, which happens in the first 30 minutes.

Not following the vinegar correlation?
:supercool

Basic highschool science my friend. Vinegar dissolves shit. It contains acetic acid mimicking somewhat the gastrointenstial tract.

How accurate is this? I have no idea. But it seems like a cool experiment to try.

LOL!

So true about quick absorbtion though. Some of the multivitamin brands I've used look identical in a log of shit as they did coming out of the bottle.

Even the imprint on the pill was legible.

I think the pH of your stomach is lower than the one of vinegar

Oh yea, stomach pH is about 2, several orders of magnitude stronger than vinegar. Point is, if they don't dissolve in a weak acid like vinegar, at least not much, then most likely a stronger acid won't help much. If something will dissolve, you'd see it start to happen with acetic acid even if it's slower than in the GI tract. If nothing happens in 30 minutes, it's probably not going to.

Depending on concentration of course...

Not true, the maximum acidity is (for vinegar) not a matter of concentration but of dissociation. There is an equilibrium between [Ac-][H+] (dissociated) and [HAc] (undissociated) denoted by pKa.

Aren't the enzymes much more important than the acids in your stomach?
I guess so...

I think it's the hydrochloric acid that allows the digestive enzymes (pepsin?) to continue to work, and that pepsin is totally inactived at a pH greater than 6. I may be wrong about this though.

I wonder if this thread was posted to expose the nerds? LOL... just kidding. It is truly amazing the knowledge we have on this board!

pH is a measure of [H+] concentration. So, yes, acidity changes depending on concentration (measure the pH of 5mL of vinegar, then mix it with a liter of water and measure again).

He only means pills and tabs brutha, don't go dumping your protein powder into a bucket of vinegar, lol

Some pills are pressed with so much pressure that even a truck would not crush them
