Do you do these excercises with your elbows wide or close to your chest? I do bench presses with close elbows and pushups wide, just because I don't know which is better. Are there pros and cons to each way?

If you flare your elbows out wide on bench press you put your shoulder in a compromising poisition risking injury. Just keep your arms in a natural position. Putting your elbows purposely close together won't hram anything, but you won't be able to press near as much weight because that places emphasis on the triceps rather than the chest and shoulder.
