Push-ups

I think push-ups are making my pecs smaller. It might some form of overtraining after all of this time of chest once or twice a week. Does anyone else do push-ups everyday? I've been doing about 60-90 a day, and I'm thinking about stopping. On a sidenote, it seems to be helping the tri's, so there is a plus.

Think of them as doing bench with about 70% of your bodyweight and take it from there.

I used to do pushups every day but you get to a point when bodyweight makes it a significant workout.

If you do them every day, then concentrate on getting perfect reps and don't always go to failure or you will be overtraining.

There's a simple way of resolving this... once wamed up, do explosive press-ups so that you clap in mid air from the spring - requires allot from the pecs, especially propelling you up, and catching you when you fall. If you find your doing too many reps, try A-style push ups... in the UK army they are used as punishment heheheh!... start in the normal push up way, but walk your legs towards your hands so your whole body forms an 'A' shape (or more acurately an upside down 'V'. The only work the upper part of your pecs tho.

You never mentioned whether or not you still lift weights.....if you stopped weightlifting and replaced it with pushups, that is why you are getting smaller.
