anyone have any tips on training puppy. Ithink for the most part he's trained, but he still makes poo poo sometimes in the house.

Like today....

Dogs have logic. I could yell at my dog and tell him shit like bad dog and he wouldnt do it. Now i got a cat shitting on my bed.

What kind of dog is it?

boxer.

When we leave him alone, I think he does it out of spite.

But when I take him out, and he comes in to shit.....I just don't get it.

Take the puppy poo outside and put it in a place where you want him to go each time...keep him in a travel case for a fews hours, feed and water him...take him out, put him on a leash, lead him to the poo area, he'll sniff around, realize what the place is for and piss and shit there....do this for a few days until he learns...be patient, some learn very quickly, others take a bit more time....

Peace,

Ranger

buy a crate to keep him in during the day, it helps immensly to train them. as far as going when he is outside, the key to that is patience, you just have to wait him out until he goes. then act like a fool happy when he does. boxers are pretty smart, and dogs love it when you act happy about something, they will make the connection. when i was training my lab, and i was going to take her outside, i always acted very happy to be taking her outside, made sure i said the exact same thing everytime i took her out "wanna go OUTSIDE and POTTY?" it takes time, but they will recognize what you are saying and know what you mean. my dog goes for the door immediately if you ask her this question.

good luck. how old is your puppy? i noticed once my dog was about 6 months old that the accidents taper off.

Good idea Ranger, I kind of house trained my dog the same way. I was told by my vet to crate my puppy but I did not want to but then he explained to me that if a puppy was wild it would spend almost the entire day in the den and come out when his mother came back, it is a natural thing for them. So that is what I did, I crated him when I was at work and once I got home I took him out immediatly and he pissed then shit. He learned pretty fast that outside was the place to do that.

Just remember... he wants to be house trained. He just doesn't know it yet. Dogs like to be cooperative (though wacko) members of the family. Take him outside right after he eats. That's when his little system is feeling preasure. He'll pick up on the cue quickly.

And be patient.

Punish him when he shits in the house and reward him when he shits out of the house.
Worked with every of the four dogs i ever had.

he's not a new puppy, he's 4.5 months old

I think he's missing a chromosome or two.

5-6 months is the cut-off point in most pups. By 6 months a dumb dog should have it down... a smart one by 4 1/2 to 5.

I just got a boxer puppy also, hes 8 1/2 weeks old and weighs almost 20 lbs.

I've been using the crate method, it seems to work really well. Just leave him in there while your at work, then let him out and take him out RIGHT AWAY.

And keep taking him to the same spot, he'll catch on eventually.
