Pumps = Big Deal???

To me pumps feel great but really don't seem to indicate much at all (how good the gear is etc.)

I find that provided I am eating and resting OK, I get decent pumps whenever I do HIGHER REP training. For me that is 10-12 reps. I don't get pumps from 2-6 rep sets that are supposed to be best for building mass.

So bottom line is for me I don't think pumps mean squat, just a nice feeling from blood plasma buildup....
 
So what is that when folks are saying they are on this or that and getting wicked pumps? Are they just doing more reps?

Like I said, for me it is not a function of juice it's just doing higher reps with decent weights and good form.... on or off!

I hear about water retention increasing pressure on the spine and contributing to back pumps but thats something different then...

Another thing I find is that yeah sometimes I get back pumps and shin splints from running BUT I know for a fact that this is only because of my body weight! Any time I go over 225lbs those areas can't handle it too well.
 
Do you have often have a good workout without getting a pump? Me = almost never.
 
Correct me if Im wrong but when you get a pump does'nt it mean that youre body it trying to supply nutrients/oxygen to the muscle?

Im the same way low reps/high weight, high rest in between, sets give me no pumps and those weeks that I usually go for strength dont really get any size. The weeks that I do medium weight low rest 30-45 seconds rest between sets, I get wicked wicked pumps and also notice the best gains.
 
Pumps are not a physical scientific indication of a good workout. It's only serves as a mental indication of a good workout.

I know when I have a good workout when I have the greatest ability to recruit the most muscle fibers to lift the weights. Through improved CNS stimulation.

I can have the greatest pump in my biceps while on DBOLS but actually have a pretty average workout. On dbols I always get insane pumps regarless of how good or productive the workout really was. On the other hand, I can be OFF cycle with 50mg of ephedrine HCl and have a much better biceps workout yet without feeling as much pump.
