Psychological problems from injury

My shoulder has been screwed all to hell. I've rested it, been to phys therapy, had a cortisone shot. I'm now on my 6th treatment with active release. It's still not helping. I almost fell over in pain from shutting a car door the other day. My best bench in the gym was 6 reps with 315. I'm now down pushing 225 for 5 reps. It's starting to mess with my head. I'm to the point of being embarrassed to go to the gym. People will come up to me with my little baby weights and say stuff like "Didn't you used to lift a lot heavier?". I usually tell them "Yes, but that was before my testicles were cut off". I don't even want to go to the gym any more. I used to get "high" from my workouts but now I just get depressed. Have any of you guys gone through this?

I went through almost 18 months of that, spread over two years. I had two shoulder surgeries and during rehab I couldn't do anything but very light weights, I'm talking about shruggs with 25 lb db's, and hammer curls with 15lb db's. Most people at my gym knew the situation so they didn't ask stupid questions. The next time someone asks that just tell them that you're injured, at least you're in there trying.

Have you seen an orthapedic doctor? There might be something torn, so I would at least go in and let him check it out.

Good luck.
