Prozac

A friend of mine has recently started taking prozac (he was taking paxil which i advised him against before hand but he did it anyway which is fair enough i'm not a doc) now he's taking prozac he's say he's feeling not suicidal but thinking about it. Has anyone heard of this before from prozac? i'm pretty depressed but i've never used prozac

dude, it takes a while for it to kick in, like 2-3 weeks. if a person isn't feeling positive results right away, it has been know to make them feel suicidal because they think it should be making them feel better. it's a psychological thing. tell him that it takes a while to feel + results.

well there are cases where people got worse on prozac. Phil Hartman's (from saturday night live) wife killed him and herself while on prozac. he needs to talk to his doc ASAP.

try Wellbutrin

I'm not really in favour of using antidepressant drugs... prozac is a very strong one! that may have other effects besides the one you mentions.... here you may find some useful information regarding prozac

Look into Wellbutrin... It is different than Prozac, Paxil, etc.. It doesn't work on seratonin but dopomine. The side effects are much less..

if you want a REALLY strong one, try effexor XR...

it often only takes a few days to kick in, too.

There have been some rumors of this sort of thing. Do a seach on "Dr. healy and suicide" he seems hell bent on proving that SSRI's (Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft) can increase the odds of suicide in some depressed people.

i don't doubt that... ssris reduce anxiety, too. you get braver. brave enough to kill yourself, maybe.
