Prostatitis - antibiotic

HULK12

New member
I just came back from the doctor and he diagnosed me with prostatitis. I've been on a deca/test-400 cycle and it seems as though everytime I use test, I get these symptoms. He gave me an antibiotic. The question I have is can I start taking the antibiotic now? Will it hinder my gains?

welcome aboard bro i suffer from prostatitis too, take the antibiotics its a serious problem that you need to take care of, i seem to only get it when i use eca or clen though but yes test will irritate it also

Just out of curiosity what are some of the symptoms that you present with that lets you know you have prostatitis.

Yes that is my question too what are the symptoms ,because I usually start feeling something uncomfortable in my tailbone area when on, but i had a PSA test done and it was fine, would that mean I dont have it?

the symptoms I started to experience were constant urination and having that full feeling after going to the bathroom. It sucks! Liquidmuscle, did you find that the antibiotic worked well even when on cycle?

It depends on the type of antibiotic, penicillian and its family of drugs will not hinder gains. The tetracycline family, minocycline etc. will hinder protien synthesis. Cipro and its family will weaken tendons and increase risk of rupture. Its best to use saw palmetto ed if you have a tendency for prostate inflamantion, also take 50mg of zinc daily and drink plenty of water.

By the way a PSA is to detect prostate cancer not prostitis which translates to inflamation of the prostate gland. Saw palmetto is a great prostate anti inflamatory.

Where did you hear about tetracycline and its derivatives hindering protein synthesis and to what extent?

Liftsiron is correct, saw palmetto, water and extra zinc. The prostate gland uses a ton of zinc. I was diagnosed with prostatitis when I was 21. My doctor told me that Ginsing also helped. I found that saw palmetto worked the best. You might also ask your doctor about Cardura. It relaxes the sphincter, so urination is a little easier. I took 2mg a day, then upped it to 4mg a day. Cardura is cheap and effective. A urologist will know about it, but your normal doc might not know about the use of Cardura with prostatitis.

I don't have any references right at hand, however over the years I've come across mention of it, on many occasions. As to what extent I'm uncertain of course it would depend on dose and duration of treatment.:)

Gotta agree with Surgical. Prostatitus isn't something men like to talk about, but the Saw Palmetto and Zinc were presecribed by the the urologist who treated President Reagan at Bethesda - and, incidentally, Dex. Yep. I was on antibiotics for a week or so, too.

Prostatitis, for those who have it, know how it feels. With me, there is no position, lying in bed , sitting on the sofa, sitting on the toilet, soaking in a warm bath that helps me when it inflames - for no apparent reason. The equivalent of Tylenol-3 and 20 minutes helps. I hurts like hell, and even with the supps I take, it flares up.

my first noticable symptoms were that my balls were always uncomfortable, it seemed like i was always sitting on my balls, then i felt weird inside it was a sick feeling but not a cold/flu sick feeling a bad feeling inside, then of course i fainted and was rushed to the ER then they said congats you have prostatitis and its caused by you using AAS and ECa

Hey Bros,
I've had prostatitis for years....
First, Caffiene, alchohol and spicy foods are to be avoided.... I'm very sensitive to these and when I eliminate them I feel relief.
I also take Flomax which most docs should give you a script for if you have prostatis. It helps with the urgency feeling.
About 2 years ago my doc put me on like 6 different anti biotics for about 1-2 weeks each...
It didn't help much and recently he put me on cipro for 2 weeks cause my symptoms flared up....
It flared up I believe cause I got lazy and was eating spicy foods and caffiene...
Juice can make the symptoms a little worse but I find the foods above the worst thing for my symptoms....
Also, Vitamin C can help... My doc has me taking 3g/day..
If you have acute bacterial prostatitis it may be cured with anti biotics but most men find it doesn't help. It didn't help me.
So you just have to pay attention to what helps/hurts it.
I also find ephedrine/clenbuterol aggrevate it.

Saw palmetto at 1g a day will fix you up.
I had teh same problem and within a week I was back to normal.
I pisses about 10 times before I went to bed.

Thanks bro! Yeah, I've heard the same but I've never seen the evidence to support it. I remember a debate on Meso a few years ago and points were raised as to the type and amount protein synthesis is inhibited.

If anyone is interested, it appears that minocycline may have both positive and negative attributes. First I admit that some of the vocabulary in these extracts is beyond my comprehension so if my interpretations are incorrect, please clarify. Thanks!

It does appear that minocycline/tetracycline inhibit protein synthesis:

HOWEVER...it also appears as though minocycline has a "pro-anabolic" effect as well:

This has been of great interest to me as I have been using minocycline to treat acne. Comments are welcome!

well, it seems as though my prostatitis only comes about when doing Test. Does anyone else experience this? Will it go away after I do the test or does it stick with me?

I just got my 2nd flare up in 4 years. I guess I ve been lucky. I thought I was the only one with this problem. I was scared shitless that it was cancer. The doctor said it wasnt. This sucks so bad, I piss like 12 times a day and I have that constant irritating feeling in the perinium area. Thank God for this site, cause I thought I was alone on this one.

YES to everything mentioned. However, there are 3 types of prostatitis: 1) Acute bacterial prostatitis 2) Chronic bacterial prostatitis 3) Nonbacterial prostatitis.

Frequent urination is a good sign that you have Nonbacterial Pros.

In this case, you may also have pain upon ejaculation as well. The prostate gland is "usually" in a normal state as well. This condition is caused by reflux of sterile (hopefully :)) urine into th ejaculatory ducts as well as a result of high pressure voiding. Refluxes can be triggered by spasms of external or internal sphincters.

alpha-blockers will help decrease spasms of the prostate muscle, so you may want to try out some oral Yohimbine (maybe...).

Other things that help are muscle relaxants (mmmm...somas), hot baths, anticholinergics, and antiinflammatory drugs.

Therefore, stay away from the ephedrine/caffeine....etc....You my be able to get away taking the juice still, i don't know.

Saw Palmetto should be included in everybody's 'must have' supplement list IMO, whether they have this condition or not.

BMJ

btw...I don't have this condition.

I've had problems with prostatitis for years. For a while my urologist told me it was non-bacterial, learn to live with it.

Felt like I had a hot egg stuck up my ass and urinary flow was considerably reduced. I had tried most of the quinolones including Levaquin and also tried Augmentin. Prostate was very tender to exam but PSA was within normal limits.

Before I gave up, I went back to Bactrim. Hadn't used it in years, urologist said it wouldn't work, but within 2 weeks my problems cleared. Stayed on for 30 days. Had another flare up about 8 months later. Tried Levaquin, did nothing, switched to Bactrim again and it cleared promptly.

Since I've added Proscar (5 mg/d), 30 g of Soy Protein and 15 g of Flaxseed Oil for the isoflavones and resinols, respectively to potentially offset the effects of estradiol and reduce overall inflammation. Been eating a shit load of cooked tomato sauce and adding another 15 mg/d of lycopenes to my supplements. Also added about 3 grams of fish oil (EPA and DHA) to my diet. Haven't had a problem for quite a while and can piss on a phone pole from at least 5 feet out. Haven't been able to do that since I was 20. None of this has affected my workouts, nor did the course of Bactrim.
