Prolab Matrix MRP

New member
I just drank the best tatsing MRP I have ever had - Prolab's Matrix Cinnamon Oatmeal. It has 40g carbs, 40g protein and 8g's of fat. The only thing that I was not crazy about was the protein blend being mostly whey concentrate and calcium casinate.

Anyone else ever try these?

Never heard of it, thats a lot of fat and carbs to mix..but I might head over to the supp store tomarrow and see if they have it(cause a lot of MRP's taste like shit).

Good stuff!

I'm just finishing off my 2nd box of Cinnamon Oatmeal, the taste is stellar! But I must admit, the unique flavor is a bit much if you're having 2 a day.

Beyond the fact that it tastes good, I like the way it mixes well and the added fiber makes it nutritionally superior to the majority of MRPs. I don't mind the casein & whey mix, it contains a high amount of bioactive fractions.

Vince Andrich (sp?) is heading Prolab and created this formula...he's the one who wrote the latest EAS supplement (sales) review.

The cost is the only deterrent, it's a tad excessive.

The cost should run about $1.50 a pack. The comments on the taste have been excellent, everyone seems to like. The Oatmeal has been the most popular so far by a landslide.

Who sells it that cheap?

How do you get $1.50 per pack? MSRP is $64.95 which equates to $3.25 per pack. If you're telling us you can find it for $30 a box, please share!

Thanks,

Anyone who pays the MSRP doesn't know how the "search" function on the internet works.

It's $1.50 a packet, and the stuff ROCKS.

After the first taste, it became a "must have" in my regimen. Perfect ingredients, too

Is it good for cutting purposes?

Don't sweat it. The fat comes from MCT oils, and the carbs come form low-GI powder made from oats, barley, and brown rice. Absolutely no fructose, sucrose, lactose, dextrose, or maltodextrin. 5 grams of the carbs are fiber (20% RDA).

Yes, it's one of my new favorites, too.

Okay, I'm sold. How are the other flavors besides Oatmeal?

Haven't tried them but my sources tell me that the Cinnamon Oatmeal outsells the other flavors by a large margin

Allergic to cinnamon!!

Well, I'm allergic to cinnamon. Going to have to try either the chocolate or vanilla. Anyone try these flavors yet. They are usually very good but sometimes companies can F-up on taste. Thanks for your input. Good luck in all your endeavors!

Yes, It's the very first thing I put in my mouth.

1) Prolab Matrix
2) Tuna, Onions, Tomato, Green Onions
3) Isopure Pack
4) 2 Chicken breast, salad, Fish Oil caps
5) 10oz Meat (Salmon, London Broil,Chicken), salad, Fish Oil caps
6) Pro-Blend 55, Fish Oil caps

I asked TC Luoma about the new Classic GROW! what was the reason behind getting rid of the fructose and using an all malto. source of carbs. I said that fructose sucked anyway and asked why they didn't use the new complex carbs such as the ones found in Prolab Matrix.

Here's he's answer:

Because when you pulverize barley, brown rice, etc., the GI goes up higher than if it were pure glucose.

We've personally tested our Grow! over and over again using glucometers, and the blood sugar response is ideal.

Hope that helps,
TC

Ripped up, that's a joke right?

Biochemists please explain to my what the difference between "pulvarizing" food before you eat it, and chewing on it and digesting it while eating it is.

So If I grab a handful of Oatmeal, throw it in a food processor and make paste out of it. Then eat this oatmeal paste, the GI count will be higher than the normal oatmeal?

This is ridiculous.

An apple is an apple whether it's in one piece or one trillion pieces. There isn't a chemical change that takes place by pulvarizing a food so how the fuck can the chemical composition change?

Crum- I have been anxious to try it out myself but I thought
that was a lot of carbs. You think that would be an ideal
breakfest if carbs are kept to minimum thoughout day?

funny you ask that question guile because I was thinking the same thing but since the 40g of carbs are complex, it should not make you or break you if throughout the rest of the day you keep your other carbs to a minimum. And yes, the oatmeal/cinnamon is the shiznit!!!!!!!

Yeah, after reading that it is complex, I would think the same.
I gotta get me some of that stuff.

so, from everybodies thoughts....is the complex carbs used in the Prolab MRP better then maltodextrin used in a lot of meal replacements..ie, protein factory's anabolic mrp??

Here's another input I got from an industry insider.

yes, the more a grain is broken up, the more of its starch is made accessible to digestive enzymes and therefore more rapid absorbtion occurs.
Don't know about whole grain (no matter how much they're pulverized) being absorbed faster than glucose though.

You really gotta wonder, though...If pulverized fibrous carbs are now so high-GI that they're more "potent" than actual glucose, then why wouldn't Biotest have used pulverized oats instead of dextrose/maltodextrin in its own post-workout Surge mixture?
