Well, speaking as a manager, I once had one of my employees (sysadmin) bring the following "problem" to my attention:

grep -i error /var/adm/messsages > FILE | grep CPU FILE > FILE | cat FILE

"Why isn't there any output?"

I don't get paid hourly, so it isn't like a wonderful thing to just sit and redo shit - but I guess in the long run, I'm getting paid - but they have us come in and do weekends and shit to makeup for their fucked up management decisions and major architecture changes mid-project.

I've been here over two years and the company has changed what it is doing like 5 times. At this point, I have no clue what we are doing and have less and less of one each time they change. "Something with routers." It makes interviews embarassing because they want to know what I do now... and I don't have anything to tell them.
