problem with pulldowns...

Whenever I do pulldowns with palms facing away from me at a decent weight, each arm "cracks," as does each wrist. Doesn't seem like it'd be a good idea to continue doing them... Warm-up sets don't really help either. I dont have that problem with palms towards me, but then I don't really feel it in my lats very much.

Any suggestions?

do your elbows come back but your forearms come forward when you pulldown?

a good visual would be as if you were doing a shoulder press that keeps falling forward at the bottom.

to remedy this, lighten up the weight, ensure that your forearms are pointing in the same direction as the cable you are pulling against. pull with your elbows.

Hmm I'm not 100% sure what you're referring to, I'll pay more attention next time I hit the gym.

What if I start doing weighted pullups instead? Would that correct whatever bad motion I am doing with my arms? Thanks.

Palms towards you should hit the back and lats real good. Just make sure you contract hard at the end of each rep and use enough weight. Atleast I like them like that. Ill mix it up and do them both ways. With palms facing you, Id reccomend about a shoulder with grip, any wider or closer and the movement just gets awkward and painful, atleast for me. Hope that helps
