Anybody use Ambien or Trazodone? goin to tzalk to doc on wed about gettin a script, have been using benadryl and valerian for awhile and it usually does the trick, but recently its been taking me awhile to fall asleep (on cyp/eq) might be a little bit of eq anxiousness i dont know.
Suggestions and experiences please :)

I have taken Ambein a couple of times, and a lot of Trazodone over the past 10 years.

Don’t really know much about Ambein, was kind of afraid of it.

Trazodone, I believe is an antidepressant, can’t remember, at first 50mg will knock you out in about 30-45 minutes, like everything you will over a long period of daily usage,

develop a tolerance to Trazodone.

Go off for a while and it works all over again. So if you use it as a sleeping aid,

Think in terms of cycles, use it for 8 weeks go off then use it again

Remember the first time, or the first month you take Trazodone, just take it where you intend to be for the next 8 hours, because you will crash hard.

Not a pharmacist, but I don’t know of anyway you can prevent tolerance or limit your tolerance.

I have used ambien and lunesta. I like both of them but ambien makes me kind of high before I go t o sleep. Lunesta just makes me sleepy. I guess you have try it before you know how it works for you.

no you misunderstood, i meant like 8 wks of trazodone, 8 wks of x (ambien, lunesta etc..) or better question how do you personally use it

2 over the counter generic melatonins knock me out for 7 to 9 hours.

i'm a lightweight when it comes to drugs and booze......a "cheap date" fuh shurrrrr

response to melatonin varies, for some people its quite effective (though typically not those who suffer from anxiety)

yep, this is def an anxiety issue, bc once im asleep im out and get a great sleep (like on weekends this is great i fallasleep when i fallasleep and i get up when i get up) but on the weekday the shit kills me cuz it takes me forever to go to bed then im up at 7 onlyh a few hours after i act fall asleep

The tablets that are prescribed for me are 150mg

I cut those in to thirds

Yes I know I can ask the shrink for 50mg tabs, but this works out cheaper,

Take 50mg until I need a little more, then ease into 100mg, repeat, and then ease into 150mg,

When and if 150mg doesn’t work, I get off, It normally takes me 2 months then I am off, if things haven’t changed and I still anxious, I work with my shrink.

I am trying to get off all meds, for anxiety and depression.

I treat trazazone like a supplement, if I am freaked, I nail it with Xanax.

Trying to stay off booze, so this is kind of a battle not an art in anyway
and the shrink is helpful, but they are as confused as anyone, I think ambien is fine, but I hate to add one more substance that is addictive, Xanax is fine for anxiety, but a bitch to get off.

I've tried Ambien, Ambien Extended Release, and Lunesta. Ambien works very well but it does leave you a little groggy in the morning. Kind of like a little hungover feeling. Lunesta works also but not as well. It doesn't leave you feeling groggy in the morning. There are some side affects to these. Get a script and read up on the sides. Take it about an hour before you plan on sleeping. If you stay awake after taking it, you may experience hallucinations. Get briefed on them by your doctor and pharmacist. Good Luck.

ya bro, if I remember correctly, melatonin was banned for a short period of time in the 80's. Also, it can cause tumors if taken at the wrong time of day. If you take it at night it is supposed to inhibit tumors, or if taken when you dont sleep it can cause tumors. I learned this info reading a nutrition and natural supps reference book when I worked at GNC.

As far as sleep aids in general, I think they are a joke, and honestly horrible for anyone's well being. Only thing I would ever consider is valerian, just because it is non habit forming. But, this are definately just my personal opinions. Ambien supposedly makes people not only sleep walk, but sleep "cook". That seems pretty messed up to me. I can lay down and fall asleep no problem at anytime which is great, but I do realize not everyone can do that.

I can't say enough about ambien. I am going to try and get a scrip for sure. I took if for a few weeks (got some from a friend) and man, it was the best I had felt in years. 7-8 SOLID uninterrupted hours of sleep and I woke up feeling refreshed and not groggy at all. I felt totally rested, knees and back that usually ache felt rock solid and no pain. I take it and within about 30 minutes, I just get heavy eyes and tired, and I am asleep in about 10 minutes. Sleep solid all night, and wake up ready for the day. I can't praise this drug enough. It is amazing what a solid deep nights sleep does for the body.

Ambien works great for me too.
I make sure I got to bed within 30 minutes of taking it and I make sure I can get 7 hours at least of sleep. I dont like to take it to often since I am afraid to become dependent on it.

By the way, IP ambien works just like the real thing.
I know some people here dont like IP but the Ambien works great.

my real problem is relaxing and getting sleepy before bed, not actually sleeping (bc once im out i am out until the alarm goes off) does ambien help you relax and fall asleep or would something like valium or trazodone be better for me?

Ambien is perfect for you then. I have the same problem--just need a little help to get over that 'hump' of anxiety and wind down, but once I'm asleep I'm out.

I never get a hung over feeling from Ambien. As a matter of fact, it seems to clear my bloodstream completely in about 3-4 hours.

Ambien will be perfect for you because it just 'gets' you to sleep, and then wears off in a few hours. Valium and trazodone are benzo's which take forever to wear off (not what you need).

i have noticed that melatonin makes me feel groggy for a couple of hours after awakening.

Ambien is the best I have used.

For OTC supps GABA (around 2g) is very nice. Makes for good dreams too.

Melatonin is also decent.

Phenibut is suppossedly the nectar of the dream god. I have used it and I prefer GABA though. Some that have taken Phenibut claim it makes them feel drunk and then KO's them cold. I didn't get that result though.

I was taking benadryl based on a friend's recommendation, but it never seemed to help much, esp after starting cyp. Been using OTC Unisom and it works like a charm.

i have taken both ambien and trazadone...my choice is ambien. Ambien kicks in about 25 minutes, while trazadone takes a little longer. For ome reason i felt very uncomfortable while taking trazadone. my nose would get really stuffed up and the next day i would feel like balls
