Prepared meals?

In the meat section at the supermarket, they have a variety of pre-cooked meat dishes from the major prepared-food makers such as Hormel and Tyson, things such as Roast Beef & Gravy, Beef Stroganoff, Roast Pork, Roast Turkey...

Anyone know if these things are any good?

^^What he said

Alot of grocery stores are starting to stock their own in-store prepped food tho...Better for you and probably better tasting if you're wanted to skip your own meal prep.

Mmm, sodium!

Sodium gets a bad rap. When I was a kid, I used to cut each piece of steak and salt it individually...Never had a problem with BP or anything. I've read differing info on high sodium intakes...basically tho I think if you drink alot of water and keep your system flushed, you'd be fine as long as you're not sensitive to BP issues.

agreed.

Also, genetics I'm sure on some level could have something to do with individual BP as it relates to sodium levels being above normal.

So do any of these things taste okay, or are they "take one bite, spit it out, and pour the rest in the garbage and vow never to make that mistake again"???

I've had the prepackaged sliced ham before...tastes good to me.

Not sure about the entire meals though.... could be risky.

I personally am not a fan of the cooked-then-frozen-then-reheated meat thing - especially turkey...Turkey always seems to pick up a funky flavor this way.

I'm not sure, but I don't think these are frozen, since they're sold on the Meat Counter, not the Freezer Section.

Ah...gotcha...I know exactly what you're talkin about....Sorry bro, can't offer opinions on them cuz I haven't tried them. But I'd still stay away from the turkey - reheated cooked turkey, unless it's made into soup, never sat well with me :Chef:
