PreContest Sodium Load

I'm about to begin a sodium load in prep for my contest on the 14th. This is my first contest, and I've heard lots of contradicting opinions on the sodium load. Here's what I'll be doing (trainer told me to do):
Fri.-- 8000mg sodium
Sat. -- 8000mg sod.
Sun. -- 10000mg sod.
Mon. -- 10000mg sod.
Tues. --12000mg sod.
This will be in conjunction with zero carbs and high protein. Then, on Wed., I will begin a carb-up. I'm not sure yet as to how it is supposed to look like.

If anyone has any opinions, tips, etc.. on this, let me know please.

Be careful

Salt loading as part of a contest prep is what Voodoo is to Christianity. I have seen very few people pull this off without water spilling over. It's hoped that you have already done a salt load and this is not a first time run. The week before a contest is not the time to try new techniques, despite what your trainer says is best.

I just talked to my trainer a little while ago, because I was nervous about the whole deal. He said that he would keep a close watch over me and give me strict guidelines to follow. I know that I can stick to the guidelines, so I think I'll be ok. He helped two guys train for competitions last summer. One won overall, and the other messed up, and spilled over. He ate ice cream, watermelon, and drank too much water. I think that is the reason why he spilled over.
