Preacher Bench

What do you all think about the preacher bench ,ive got access to a preacher B at the gym ,but its only a seated version,i like to stand erect when preaching and used to but theyve gotten rid of the standing version bench ,now its all sitting when you work your biceps.I feel i can really push harder in the biceps when im standing.I guess i should make my own and workout at home.I presume the reason they did this is because of maybee back injury it was mentioned ,who knows.
What do you pros say, lets have it,

seated or standing shouldnt make a difference if you arent using leverage...

it should be just a matter of preference, not performance, unless you do it wrong.

I don't like preacher curls for one reason, that is that most people don't do them correctly. The higher you lift the bar, the more the resistance is being moved away from your bicep. At the supposed contraction point on a pc, or at the top of the excercise, the weight is pretty much resting on your forearms which are supported by the bench. At that point, your bis are doing little more than balancing the wieght.

Experienced lifters know to squeeze their bis at the top of this excercise, but very few people actually do this. I prefer even a cable curl over the pc if for no other reason than the resistance is constant.

I go with gymtime on this one, while the preacher bench is great to take out front delt involvement and torso swing, it's lacking peak contraction, however preach machines from technogym or preacher cable curls are fricking grreat. I even start to prefer them over barbell curls!!!

I guess the fact that a preacher does take away load from your bicep is true, when i use it i use target range of motion ,it help i suppose, now im getting interested in that old thingy ,whats it called, bicep blaster or something like that ,you hang it round your neck and prop your arms inside the cuffs to do standind bicep curls,it isolates you trowing your arms too much, anyone hate or like this gadget??:fro:

Man, I haven't seen one of those in some time. But yes, they work quite well as they keep you from cheating.

Yeah,i thought they seemed ok,i use one ages ago and now its been trown out by my ratbag brother so im in the market for one ,who makes them, cant seem to find them advertised in any mags?

$24 but worth the investment ,
I used to have a wieder bicep blaster that had swivel cuffs on it,i loved it ,doing tricep kickbacks was easy and no cheating

I like curling while sitting back on an incline bench myself, that keeps tension on the biceps for a longer portion of the movement.

I wonder if you could combine the becep blaster with an incline bench??

I dont know jon,i never even thought of it ,
I will try anything once and if it works ill let you know, the only problem is that the bicep blaster wont allow your arms to be vertical in the incline bench position, they will follow the contour of your upper body not allowing you to swivel your shoulders and drop your arms to a natural vertical position,

If it is a bad movement ill post a reply right after muscle surgery at the hostpital cheers!LOL:fro:
