I am gonna be reading the powerclean chapter from starting strength soon and after i try get the techniqe down i will be incorparating them into my routine.
But i train upstairs and the floor is wooden floor boards, but when i see people doing powercleans they always drop the weight on the floor after finishing the lift, would it be ok to like put the bar down slowly so that it doesn't crash into the floor on the way down or maybe use the rack to catch at the top or something, or would this effect my future form?

Where I am training at the moment, they don't have bumper plates and the matting is downright shoddy. After cleaning (for presses, front squats, etc.) or snatches, I either control the weight to my thighs where it leaves slight bruise, or I crade the bar in my arms and do like a zercher lift and lower it to the floor. +200lbs still makes a load bang but seems liveable. If I were you I would consider doing the exercise outside if at all possible.

Drop it to your thighs and then put it down like a dead. Obviously full squat cleans and snatches might be out of the question due to the likelyhood of a miss that can't be controlled.

I was thinking of using an old mattress or something like that, once i finally get onto doing outher oly lifts.
Thanks for advice.
