Power Racks- Which One Do You Like???

The first power rack I ever had was one made by Parabody. It was an incredible piece of equipment. A little more expensive than most, however, this is such a core piece of equipment, you dont want to skimp on this. Peace

I like the second one because its bigger, but I would think the first one would work..Personally if I could have a new rack for our gym right now I would want one from power-lift.com .They have a huge red and black rack from power-lift at a place I train events at sometimes, that I would love to have. Not sure on the cost though

I like body solid's rack thats in my cable crossover post because you can hook up the dipping bars to the pins and a lat pulldown machine. The only thing i don't like about it is that it doesn't have two sets of pins on both sides. that would be good for statics or partial reps set inside the two pins. That might be suttin to look into. I wish I had that. I didn't see that in either of those racks.

Have you ever squatted in a power rack? Does it bother you when posts are close? Does it throw you off because you think you're going to hit them, even if you're not close? If so, then get the wider one. Otherwise, save your $$ and get the other one. We have the narrower one.

I like em both also. Guess much depends on what Spatts hit on and how much room you have or don`t have where you are going to put the rack. Personally, I don`t like squatting inside the rack. It just bugs me. I guess I would be able to get used to it if I had to but I don`t have to and I do all my squatting on the outside of the rack.

Damn, I can't remember. It's been a while since I worked out and when I did, my gym didn't have a Power Rack. Here's my stats- 6'3" 270-275lbs and my bodyfat is high, right now(20%).:( Trying to get down to 8% bf. I'm mainly going to use the rack to Legs(Squats, Front Squats, BB Lunges, and SL Deadlifts) and Back(Chins, Pull Ups, and Deadlifts). Spatts, do you think the first Rack will be sufficient and comfortable to workout in for someone my size? If anyone would know, it probably would be you.

Hey Tex.... If you have the room in your place.....IMHO...I would go with the larger one. Having a larger than needed rack will not cause any problems but having a rack that may be a tad too small will. ex: smaller one may be workable but will be tight and restrictive. Your a pretty big hombre.....why restrict yourself ?

Dave, I have lots of room in my garage. I'll have alot more when I get rid of most of the kids' toys.:smash: I think I'll go with the second rack. Plus, it's wider so I can do Wide Grip Chins with ease since it's 56-57 inches wide, instead of 48 inches wide like the first rack.

I've never had a problem doing anything inside the rack. never thought about it, never bothered me, infact i love working inside the rack. rack deads, benching, squating, close grip benching, dips, barbell shrugs. Im the only one using it so i use it for as much as i can. i'd say it's the most versitile peice of equipment you can put in a gym. Ranger, don't worry so much about training inside the rack. you'll get used to it. just set the pins right and you'll be fine.
