power racks/bars/plates

I am building a home gym soon and am wondering if any of you on this board could direct me towards some good stores to buy these items. I live in the Toronto area and have no idea where to start and am looking for at least decent prices.

I could never find a power rack cheaper than $300, plus a massive amount in s/h too. I'm going a different route, with careful planning and contruction, I'm going to make a powerrack out of wood! way cheaper this way.

I've found an olympic barbell set for a decent amount on fitnessfactory and amazon, but if you have a dunham's store in canada, go there and buy a set. They usually go for $99 here in michigan for a 300lb set.

New York Barbell has Free shipping on their racks. Well, free shipping in the US. I have no idea about to Canada.

I've been looking into getting a power rack, too. Does anyone know why Elite FTS racks are so much more expensive than NY barbell racks?

Because they are professional quality, industrial strength racks. It's something you might care about if you are squatting 900 lbs in it. There's no reason at all for a guy like me to have something like that in my house though. Maybe in 10 years, lol.
