Potassium vs Sodium

It looks like the information around these boards varies as far as the effects of sodium in the diet. Things that I can gather:

-Sodium increase water retention
-Potassium pumps sodium out of cells thereby reducing the effects of sodium

What else am I missing? Right now I'm a bit of a fat ass but am starting on a routine and diet plan. I LOVE salt and I don't mind the water retention, at least initially, because its not like I'm close to being ripped @ this point.

Does sodium affect energy levels? muscle gains? fat loss?

google OSMOSIS, there are your answers. sorry, i'm no scientist, nor nutritionist!

its no battle, one versus another, its the BALANCE thats crucial :)

Wow. What is the evidence that it helps muscle gains?

...and what affect does potassium have?

Its not that I don't believe you all but it'd be better for me to gain as much knowledge as possible.

I will try to dig that up for you, I know I made a post about it before but I can't seem to find it.

I'm not saying dump a salt shaker into your mouth everyday, lol

lemme see if I can find it.

...but..... laying with Na and K is not the most efficient way to gain lean mass/lose fat ;)

eat all the sodium u want, but just compinsate with a good ammount of potassium. I think that the optimal ratio is 3/1 sodium to potassium.
