Potassium Questions...

Potassium Questions...MR. X?

From what I have read (mostly from great posts on this board) it seems that a potassium supplement to the tune of 3500mg/day is very beneficial for overall health. That said, I have a couple questions about what potassium supplement is best.

1. What is the difference or what is better between potassium chloride and potassium gluconate? Is it just that with gluconate you wont be taking in chloride?

2. How many of you feel that magnesium orotate is necessary?

Thanks in advance all!

You need to be careful about taking too much potassium. It can be fatal. This is especially true if taking Aldactone.

KCL (possatium chloride) is a dangerous chemical. It's the same chemical used in lethal injection to stop your heart. Taken orally, I found that I'm still sensitive to it. The normal dosage caused me circulation problems for a week.

I've never had a problem with potassium from fruits or potassium supps such as potassium gloconate. But then again I never popped 10 of them like I've heard people do.

Yes, be careful

Like I said , macrophage said "NOW" sells potassium chloride. I bought that very same potassium chloride and had circulation problems for a week. Forget about 3.2 grams a day , the regular does is 732mg. He's taking 5x that. That does of KCL may have very well killed me!

Just because someone says you should do this does not mean that it's right for you. You have to experiment

I went to the supermarket and salt substitutes are potassium chloride if anyone needs any. But can abyone tell me what the difference between the two types are?

Calcium overload and calcium antagonism
For a long time it has been known, that under cellular potassium magnesium deficiency a calcium overload of the cell will take place.

This alternating behaviour of magnesium to calcium is called calcium antagonism and relates back to the fundamental research of Hans Selye in Montreal and his counterpart Albrecht Fleckenstein in Freiburg.

Another very essential experience in this field was that cellular calcium overload can be reversed again with sufficient magnesium competitively. Magnesium therefore is called the physiologic calcium antagonist according to this mutual relation between calcium and magnesium.

Concomitantly to the calcium overload the cell additionally will be swamped by sodium, whereas potassium together with magnesium leaves the cell. Summarising, a magnesium deficiency is followed by a cellular potassium deficiency, which again causes a sodium and calcium over load of the cell. Then the electrolyte homeostasis between intra- and extracellular space is disturbed maximally: a total electrolyte imbalance now dominates.

how much and what type of potassium supp is best for a 220lb dude who would be using clen?

Once again I think that's an individual thing and you may need more of potassium if on clen. Try the KCL first and see if you can tolerate it. If so keep using it because it is by far the cheapest way to supplement potassium.

If not use the gloconate. I think that is the best absorbing potassium tablet

potasium chloride, you can pick up like a 50lb bag of it at walmart for under 10 bucks :-p, its what most people use in their water softeners... dangerous?

uh, i just want to keep from getting the cramps with clen, I don't need my water softened, and I will GLADLY pay a bit more for a "supplement" that isn't going to stop my heart
