I wonder if this case will generate any outrage?? Sounds pretty similar to the Detroit case..




Police Fatally Shoot Naked Man

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police officers responding to a domestic disturbance
shot and killed a man who came toward them wielding a measuring tool, police
said.

Phillip E. Pankey, 46, was naked and holding a machinist's caliper, a
two-foot-long metal measuring device with a point and a sharp edge, Sgt. Rick
McLaughlin said.

Pankey was shot in the front yard of his home Monday morning.

Officers were sent to his home about 5 a.m., after receiving a call from a girl
living there. When police arrived, the girl's mother was leaning out of an
upstairs bedroom yelling for help. The 40-year-old woman had cuts on her
face and said her boyfriend was trying to hurt her, McLaughlin said.

Pankey lived with the woman and her two daughters.

Officers broke down the front door and Pankey ran downstairs naked and
threatened police, McLaughlin said. He walked toward the officers as they
backed out of the house and across the yard.

When Pankey ignored repeated requests to drop his weapon, the two officers
each fired a shot - one from a service pistol and the other from a shotgun,
McLaughlin said.

The woman, who was treated for injuries at a hospital, told police Pankey had
been using drugs, McLaughlin said.

The two officers were placed on administrative leave, McLaughlin said.

McLaughlin said they did not have time to use non-lethal bean bag shotgun
rounds.

No outrage here. It would have been ideal to have had immediately availabe non-deadly force. Under the circumstances and based on the limited info, they acted properly.

Excessive force my ass. Police officers are TRAINED to shoot your ass if you are approaching them with a weapon. He already stabbed the fuck out of his wife, he was completely naked so he was obviously out of his mind and on drugs.

They scream at him to put the weapon down and he keeps approaching?? So what do you people want them to do, wait till they get stabbed????

This is the real world not a movie. Cops don't shoot for the arm the head or the legs they are train to shoot at the body the highest % to hit. Thier shoot was to stop him not kill him.

But when you hit the upper or lower body there are so main organs that mosty likely you are going to die or your one lucky SOB.

How many cops wear riot gear when responding to a domestic abuse call....if someone is charging toward you with a weapon you probably wont have time to go get some mace out of the car
