Plunkey ... plz explain

But I thought Apple was a bastion of progressive free thinkers, free spirits, and washed in a sea of liberal blue? So now they are just another greedy tax dodging corporation ?

Does....not...compute

Surely you aren't suggesting that a company's image and a company's actions can be different?

It pleases me to no end to see a Prius that has probably been charged on 100% coal-fired electricity sporting an "Apple" and a "Buy Local Food" bumper sticker.

Im sure the ghost of Steve Jobs will now be summoned to congress to tell us its just all one big misunderstanding

The best thing about "richness" is that it isn't a sum-zero game. Think about cell phones, polio vaccines or the Internet -- those breakthroughs made virtually everyone on the planet more wealthy in a very short period of time.

And even when times are tough, the richest continue to grow. It's the middle and lower classes that get killed from stagnation of the economy and the destruction of jobs.

Even if you buy into the narrative that the "rich" are driven entirely by unchecked greed and self-enrichment, why not turn them loose to do their thing? Their pursuit of the all-mighty dollar will force them to compete for labor which in turn will bid-up the price of labor and drive productivity enhancements.

Look at the alternative: The poor and middle class getting their "wealth" through the government. The government doesn't drive innovation or productivity -- it simply transfers payments from one group to another (after taking their own hefty cut). And why would the political class ever solve the poverty problem? Politicians want locked-in incumbency. And the only way they'll ever get that is by establishing a permanent voting block that will always break their way.

This just doesn't seem that complicated to me. The system works as intended.

At least politicians dont redraw district lines to lock in their incumbency for decades, no way that happens.

If I take a bucket full of water from the deep end of the pool then add it to the shallow end of the pool, have I added water to the pool?

Since I believe there's a consensus that corporate tax revenues are too low, what if we did something really profound to raise total revenues -- like made the US a tax haven and nation-wide free trade zone?

No, let's just raise corporate taxes. It's worked so well so far.

Just like Ireland's revenues have increased?

If I take a bucket full of water from the deep end of the pool then add it to the shallow end of the pool, have I added water to the pool?

Exactly.

We need to quit ostracizing and threatening the guys who add water to the pool.

The answer here is also simple. Don't buy any Apple products....
Or other companies products who don't support American workers and the American economy

I thought about you today!

No lie.

I was looking for a Windows Ultrabook/Tablet, first at Staples and then at Best Buy. I had it narrowed down to something in the Surface Pro family. But when I was at Best Buy, I noticed how small, light and nifty the Mac Air 11 was. Then I made a quick call and found that it can boot Windows 7 or 8 just fine.

So I had a bona fide consumer moment: Do you go with the Surface Pro i7 or a Mac Air 11 (albeit an i5 processor). Then I thought to myself: "Apple mitigates their US taxes which reduces the destructive power of our over-reaching government." So I bought the Air 11. I walked through the parking lot thinking you'd be pleased.

I'll post a photo of the machine if necessary. Good times!
