Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Shit, you're right. It's not fair that Congress made it a law that everyone should have to say the Pledge of Allegiance and that one would go to jail if he did not say the Pledge every day. Oops - my mistake.

1. This politically correct BS needs to stop, everyone wants the world to be gray & dull where we please everyone w/out offending anyone.

it's not about people being offended. it's about pushing the beliefs of a group who believe in a god onto a group that does not.

2. You know what, who cares if you don't believe in god or anyone for that matter.

who cares if you DO.

3. Nobody is making you say the god damn pledge!

no.. you're right. nobody's making me say it or my kid say it. but they are making the kids listen to it. making the kids and everyone else with completely different views stand by and watch the sheeple pledge allegiance to a god that they don't believe in or know and that's wrong.

4. It burns me up to see or hear shit like this!

we don't need no water let the mother fucker burn
burn mother fucker
burn

5. Our kids are drug addicts and sexually active by the time they are 11yrs old. They run wild & parent are losing control. They do not take school seriously, crime rate is up, including murder. People in general are rude & have no respect for others.

i guess your religions and your god aren't really working eh?? maybe it's time to reform them.

6. it instilled values in the youth and everyone for that matter.

see my response to number 5.

7. What about the people that died because these asshole blew them up while trying to earn a dollar to take care of their families! Where are their rights? What about the rights who have fought so hard and died to defend this pledge that you now wish to attempt to take away from them. This is obsurd & I truly hope that it is shot down in the end. Bunch of communist hethens!

you really are a moron. we're not trying to take the fucking pledge away slick.. we're trying to amend it so as to fit EVERYBODY IN AMERICAN SOCIETY.. wtf don't you get about that? do you think that everybody that fought for this country believed in a god?

8. FYI - I did 5yrs protecting & serving this great country, what have you ever done for it?

i served for 6 years you damn dildo..

EASY there supertech-

I dont think removing UNDER GOD- is going to less crime or drug use among children...

These are only opinions- we have the freedom of religion- or lack there of- why shouldnt everyone be included..

And I pay taxes...

No, you're absolutely right Nicole but, it's every small thing like this that is changing our country & can anyone truly say that our country is changing for the better? It's getting worse day after day and in the end it's the children of today & tomorrow that will suffer not us, the ones who are making the decision, we will be dead & gone. Our country is losing it's values and morals & it's all becoming acceptable. Does it add more freedom? Sure it does but, is more freedom always the answer? What else can you blame the decline of our society on? It's the changes so apparently the changes aren't so good. As far as the beliefs not working, it's been ever since people were allowed more & more freedom to do & say whatever they want without discretion that things have gotten worse so I'll have to disagree on that one too! Dildo? geesh & your the one clalling me a moron?

kids say the pledge every morning and dont even know what it is they are saying. they dont know what it means. if they did know would they even care anyway? its a waste of time. it is taking advantage of kids that dont know what they are even saying. once you are out of school do you say it every day? you understand it better than the kids who are saying it do and yet you do not say it daily. its pathetic.

I agree with the jist of this post. The pledge is just a bunch of words. Is the country going to crumble if it is ruled unconstitutional? No.

it doesn't matter if someone HAS to say the pledge of allegiance or not.

tell me this.. what's better:

1. 100 million americans saying the pledge of allegiance with the "under god" note in there.. while 168 million others sit down and twiddle their thumbs.

or

2. 268 million americans reciting the pledge of allegiance loudly in unison.

At the start of first grade, I spent the first few weeks in Norway with my father. When I came back, I started American school. The first day I was there, I sat at my desk and was nervous about school and all that, and the teacher says some shit about the pledge.
We never had to say the pledge in kindergarten, it was just all about the piano, naptime, this Monarch butterfly emerging from its cocoon, and an occasionaly kick in the face from some redneck kid. good times.
But first grade apparently now involved a pledge early in the morning. Well I had no fucking clue about that since it was my first day, so I stand up like the rest of the kids did and then watched as they all turned towards the flag. Then they all at the same time started saying this shit... I had no clue. So I just stood there, trying to figure out what they were saying - something about "Richard Stands" in our nation... that was what I took from it. Then they stop and we sit down like good little automatons.
But apparently my teacher was not going to have any non-conformist children in her class and she came over and screamed at me for not knowing the pledge. I reminded her that it was my first day and I had been in Norway. That really pissed her off. I then got detention and a note sent home to my parents telling them how bad a child I was and that it was appalling that I didn't even know the pledge.

I'm all for that worthless shit being gotten rid of - and I hope that teacher was killed in a tragic bus accident that bitch.

Neither, since both are unrealistic examples and, even if they were not, would not be of any importance.

Example 1 would be more accurate if you said something like: "30 Americans saying the Pledge while 3 or 4 sit down" (i.e. in a class room).

268 million Americans reciting the Pledge? Lol... that would be the day.

Either way we are faced with one important issue - taxpayer dollars being wasted to tackle a non-issue. You are so concerned with your freedom to not have to say "Under God" (WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO SAY IT), that you are ignoring your freedoms going to shit elsewhere. I bet nobody who supports the unconstitutionality of the Pledge has any problems with airline security or pilots not being allowed to carry guns when the fucking postmaster can.
