If you're trying to bulk up, keep cardio to a minimum... heck, sometimes I skip it altogether for a couple months when trying to gain. Up the calories for sure; you'll probably need more than 3000 calories... Start out by eating clean and see how that treats you. Make oatmeal, sweet potatoes and brown rice your best friends.... whole wheat pasta and bread too.....Incorporate them in all your main meals, along with proteins and healthy fats. You should be eating 7-8 times a day to take in enough calories and also keep your metabolism firing all the time. Take flax oil, olive oil, fish oil. Anything with EFA's. Have a shake at night, right before bed, mix in flax or olive oil and even have a scoop of peanut butter. After a few weeks, if you're finding that you're not gaining enough weight and your workouts aren't improving, then increase calories. At this point, you can throw in a cheat meal here and there for extra calories, but don't rely on whoppers and ice cream all the time. Good luck!
