Okay, my brain is friend from a bit too much dnp (long story - short version, I'm an idiot).
Anyway, the other day driving I heard an ad for a band that will be playing here soon.
The good part - they sounded a lot like Radiohead.
The bad part, all I remember about them is that they are going to play at a place that has an "M" in its name.
And that their band name sort of sounds like a dude's name (Joe Smith or something - that isn't close, but two words and namelike)
They sounded very much liek Radiohead, and they were from The Netherlands, or New Zealand, or Iceland, or Greenland... somewhere that wasn't really anywhere in my mind.

so... uh, anyone know who this band is? it is hard for me to go to the concert if I know nothing about it.

and I think they are playing "soon"

my brain hurts.

Machinehead?

Matchbox20?

i dont know shit about this kinda genre, but i've heard ads on the radio about them and concerts..around my town..

not matchbox20.

the name of the band was like a dude's name - the name that definitely had an M in it was the venue at which that are playing.

i could tell you if you let me know where you are from? doesn't really help much when you say they are going to be playing here.

boston.
I've looked at tickets.com, ticketmaster.com, and at boston.com

still no go.

I wish I knew more about the band so I coudl just do a search, but I'm retarded

Scrappy, do you have any "around the town" type of entertainment magazines or newspapers you could pick up at a store or music shop there? The type that has what's going on for movies, music, clubs, bands appearing, etc, etc . . .

I went by them all the time when I took the T in to work, but now I drive and never see them.
boston.com usually has everything on it, so I figured they'd have it.
the problem is that I know so little about the band that it is hard for me to even tell if I have the right one.

I'm hoping it comes up on the radio again soon (the ad).
or I suppose I coudl call the station and see if they know who I'm talking about.

right - I'm going to the radiohead show - but this is another band - their music sounds like radiohead. it will be in a place - not sulfolk downs - has an M in the name (the place does) and the band name, instead of radiohead, is closer to Biff Weasel or something - some dudes name, but a weird one.

yeah, I wondered, except the middle east is just down the street from where I live so I would remember that.

and I checked out all the bands on that page - well, all the ones that I knew weren't what I was looking for (Tony Bennet)

on the good side, I got to see lots of bands that are coming...

Hmmm . . . clubs with "M" in them:

Boston:
Machinery Hall
M-80
Brew Moon Boston
Mama Kin

Cambridge:
Middle East
Brew Moon Cambridge

Cohasset:
South Shore Music Circus

Hyannis:
Cape Cod Melody Tent

Jamaica Plain:
Midway Cafe

Lowell:
Lowell Memorial Auditorium

Northampton:
Iron Horse Music Hall

Norwell:
Mount Blue Restaurant

Providence, RI:
The Met Cafe

Does any of this jog the noggin?

Cohasset:
South Shore Music Circus

Hyannis:
Cape Cod Melody Tent

Jamaica Plain:
Midway Cafe

Lowell:
Lowell Memorial Auditorium

these look the most familiar - it was like something sophisticated, and they were supposedly "the new sound of modern music"
just sounded like radiohead to me.

some of those in there are resteraunts (brew moon)

big radiohead fan here...happy,could the band's name have been THE BETA BAND???they kind of sound like radiohead...nothing comes close to radiohead, but this is the closest i could find...????:)

Well there is Muse. But that doesn't sound like a guy's name.

Perhaps Travis, but i'm sure you know who they are.

Two words, both like names. I'm straining my mind here. Might come up with it in a bit. How much did they sound like radiohead? Just the singer or the actual music. british?
