Question for those of you that have a PS2:

Anyone have any problems with it not reading certain games? I got a used game for Christmas, and it won't read it. Exchanged it for another used copy, and no go. I've had this problem with rentals before too.

Unfortunately, the PS2 has hit the floor before. But it'll still play Madden 2K1, 2K2, and Street Fighter.

Any suggestions? Or does anyone know how I can get mine fixed if it needs to be?

Yea my PS2 all of a sudden began began flashing "Disk read error" every once in a while when I put a game in. Then the problem got worse and worse until, a couple months later it wouldnt run anything at all. Lucky for me the guys at eb sold me an extended warrenty on the spot even though my 3 month standard warrenty was expired.

So if your PS2 warrenty is still valid I'd exchange it right away. If not, and the problem gets worse (which Im sure it will) you can fix it yourself from the page I have linked (Ive never tried it, but Im sure it works).

Your third option is to send it back to Sony and pay, something like $80, and theyll fix it or replace it. Ask the store where you bought it from for the details cause Im not sure about it exactly.

Although if you open it up and break the seal to fix it yourself, I dont think sony or the store who sold it to you will take it back.

Well, unfortunately, it's out of warranty. I thought of that, and was going to try and exchange it, but it's over a year old. I looked at Sony's website, and the going rate for fixing PS2's is $120. I'm going to try and find a place in town that can fix it, hopefully.

I never get a message that says "disk read error", it just sits on certain games, and says reading disk.

I looked at that link, and I'd give it a try, but I'm not sure it's the same problem. Don't want to make things worse, you know?
