grab the learning guitar DVD series.

Everyone i know that has bought that DVD has been shredding and solo'ing within a year. Point A to Point B. This is how you fucking do it -- type of teaching.

razorguns -- those dvds look great. I wish I had learned in a direct way like that. I'm thinking of getting the speed kills dvd, is that good?

Wait til you're advanced before tackling that one. It involves major string skipping, circular picking, and chord sweeps. That's even beyond the skills of this mofo here.

My folks made me take classical guitar lessons from an early age. Through high school I discovered I much prefered heavy rock music and bought myself a Gibson. Even though I hated it at the time the classical training has helped a lot and I can pick things up pretty quick.

Michael Angelo shreds on it, but he ain't the best actor in the biz. I learned how to sweep pick from that tape. It never fails to floor all the little geeks in the music store.

Wait until you get onstage after puffing its a trip on its own.
thats when i really get into it and cut loose!

Why i even believe my Gibson Les Paul has a climax during that time..... ;)

ive been playing off and on since 1995... still suck though

Don't feel bad, I've been playing since 1967 and still suck. My suckage does have a certain musical maturity though.

There is no wasted movement in Michael's playing. I don't think there are too many people out there that have spent as much time perfecting their technique as he has. What a freak! I had forgotten how freaky it looks when he does that over/under the neck stuff. It looks like someone speeded up the tape, but you know they aren't.

I know. The instant reaciton is "Blah! That's stupid. Totally geigh..".

Then you realize you're only saying that cuz you can't do it. haha.

What's really freaky -- is watching him do some MAJOR Beethevon, Symphony type stuff that fast. Holy shit. Ywngie Malsteem is also amazing when he plays concert type stuff fast. Boggles the mind when you realize these guys actally KNOW what notes they're hitting. It's "planned".

Until then. Guys like me can just hit our fast pentatonic scales real fast on stage, and act like we're relaly cool. When all we're doing is just randomly hitting notes all over the place. :)

Ah, gotta love overdrive gain buttons on amps. hehe.

That's pretty cool. This guy Michael has spent a lot of time in his room alone. . . See I wasted all my youth just playing with my own cock . . .

That's clip was excellent, thanks.

Children of Bodom has some awesome sweeps that I've been trying to tackle.

Fracturing my finger is a major setback though

Bread Lyrics
Song: Guitar Man Lyrics

Who draws the crowd and plays so loud, baby it's the guitar man
Who's gonna steal the show, you know baby it's the guitar man
He can make you love, he can make you cry
He will bring you down then he'll get you high
Somethin' keeps him goin' miles and miles a day
To find another place to play.
Night after night who treats you right, baby it's the guitar man
Who's on the radio, you go listen to the guitar man
Then he comes to town and you see his face
And you think you might like to take his place
Somethin' keeps him driftin' miles and miles away
Searchin' for the songs to play.

Then you listen to the music and you like to stay along
You want to get the meaning out of each and every song
Then you find yourself a message and some words
To call your own and take them home.

He can make you love, he can get you high
He will bring you down then he'll make you cry
Somethin' keeps him movin' but no one seems to know
What it is that makes him go.

Then the lights begin to flicker and the sound is getting dim
The voice begins to falter and the crowds are getting thin
But he never seems to notice he's just got to find
Another place to play, Anyway Got to play, anyway Got to play.

Heh heh, I hear ya there. Nothing like bullshitting a solo onstage and having all the girlies go nuts over something you just made up. I even used to pull off some "awesome" "tongue" solos. Basically, I would just tap out the notes on the fretboard and hold the guitar up to my face. Every now and then I would put a blood cap in before hand and then spit blood into the crowd just for shits, as if I was shredding so hard my tongue got cut up. Fucking sheep, I led them right to slaughter. It was still fun as hell though. I miss gigging. I have to get back into it soon.
