Pituitary shutdown and htpa

Maybe someone here can help. More a curiosity thing than anything else.

Does prednisolone (corticosteroids in general) shut down your adrenal or pituitary gland and hormone production?

I know they are not anabolics, quite the opposite for anyone who has had them would know.

I was just thinking why is it that people can get 'shutdown' hormone wise so easily on a anabolic cycle? From what I read on here can be perminantly lower test levels?

Is this true for a one off cycle of for eg. sust 500mg week 8 weeks?

The reason I ask about hormone shutdown is I know someone who was on methyl prednisolone for almost 2 years 1 gram I.V. every 2 weeks and then stopped and it has not affected them hormone wise.


So why does 500mg of test for 8 - 10 weeks have such a dramatic effect on your testes and natural hormone production?

Edit: I guess it is because it has a short half life so it is not consitenly suppressing like a long acting ester?

Corticosteroids are not AAS, not even close. Whole different type of chemical and affect on the body. Just google corticosteroids and you can read for days.

Yeah mate I know. If anything they do the opposite.
I was just wondering the effects hormone wise. When on corticosteriods you can shutdown your own cortisol production, but it comes back. Just wondering why doing a short test cycle can damage natural production so much as opposed to someone on prednisolone etc.
