Pinching skin together when injecting

The nurse at my Dr.'s office showed me how to inject my steroids. She said to grab a handful of skin together and inject into that to give some extra padding. Does anyone else do this? It does make injecting painless but I'm worried that I'm not hitting deep enough. Does anyone else do this?

(BTW I use 1.5" pins)

I use glute injections. I'm prescribed test enanthate but I'm doing a cycle of Denkall T400 now. She didn't actually inject me, she just taught me how to inject myself. She said to do the same thing whether injecting in thighs or glutes.

Do not do that!

Trust me on this one. I don't have time to explain about the 4 different types of pain receptors in the skin, I was just checking my email and took a quick look at the board. You don't want to pinch your skin together and inject, it will hurt more. You want to place your thumb and finger on area to be injected and stretch the skin taunt then insert needle quickly.
