ph/acidity of whey protein - PLEASE READ

Hello everyone... I have been doing a lot of research on digestion and such. Especially when it comes to increased intake of proteins as well as overall calories... It would seem that most humans have about the same capability of digestion time, amounts, etc... but as bodybuilders, we need supra-physialogical leves of all these nutrients.. I have been reading much into foods and how they affect acidity and pH levels in the body... It;s a very interesting and mostly untalked about thing. But one that is very very important and neglected. I believe we are not meant to take in dairy from cows... from all the research and sometimes just common sense.. We are the only species in the world to drink another animals milk. Therein, lies the problem. We as bodybuilders use a lot of whey protein from cows. Can anyone tell me if all the pesticides that are used on the grain (corn, which cows arent even meant to eat in the first place) that the cows eat, and the estrogen and steroids given to the cows for more beef/weight, and then all the anti-biotics given to them to counteract side effects because they are fed the wrong diet and all jacked on steroids. Can anyone help me on definitive data on whether or not these things are passed through to the whey protein... even if it's CFM Whey Isolate. ??? because i know for sure none of these companies use organically/free range cattle to get there milk, and hence the whey... they are all commercially raised. Back to the pH and acidity. Calves are on average 90 lbs when they are born, hence cow milk molecular structure is 5x the size of human milk; hence hard digestion for most... Also, is the whey we use for our protein come from pastuerized milk?? If so, this is what I have read that makes cows milk so acidic and causes digestive problems. Pastuerization kills all enzymes and minerals that naturally occur in milk to help digestion. Those are killed by heat in pastuerization. From what I have studied, its foods and our bodies that are defiecient in electrolyte minerals that are supposed to be in abundance that are there to buffer acidity in the blood, etc. I did a colon cleanse and got out a LOT of plaque and mucus like substance a month ago.. My waist went from 44.5 to 34.25 in less than 2months. The way I think about proteins and excessive bodybuilding diets kinda scares me and confuses me at the same time... If anyone (Dr's, chemist, anyone) has knowledge of this or can help... please do... right now I use Goat Whey Protein and have 0 problems with digestion and no mucus. Now I am even scared to even use the same CFM Whey Isolate I used to use... is it the lacotse in the whey concentrates that also make up the acidity in the bod and digestive tract? and if, does that mean CFM Whey Isolate or other isolates are not acidic?? especially when used multiple shakes a day for a majority of protein consumption......... food for Thought... help guys..
BTW, my email addy is: [email protected]

BUMP./... come on guys lets get some info going here... there has to be someone who can contribute... especially when people are getting responses for stupid posts like "I told my diet to kiss my butt, how long till i get fat" come on guys...

This is actually a very interesting topic. I think that some of your fears may be well-founded and deserve looking into, but on some instances, I don't think there is too much to worry about. First, you say that cows "aren't meant" to eat corn, I'm curious as to what exactly you mean by this. Cows evolved as natural (wild) animals until a few thousand years ago, and you might say that they weren't really "meant" to be domesticated at all. However, from any biological / physiological data I can find, there is no harm done by letting the cows and bulls graze upon corn. They're herbivores, and corns supplies them with most of the nutrients etc they need. I certainly dont see any way in which the corn replacing grass in their diet could have a negative effect upon they whey from which we get our protein. Most of the best steak-houses in the world actually brag about their "corn-fed cattle." As far as the molecular structure of cow milk, I see you have an interesting point. I'm not sure if the large size difference between cow milk and human milk makes whey harer to digest, but it's certainly possible, although it seems that we can definitely digest protein from drinking milk from a carton. ?
Anyway, if you're so worried, try a whey/soy/egg protein blend and see if that makes any difference. If anyone else has any information about this topic, hopefully more informed than mine, Id be happy to listen. I wish I could be of more help - I'm just an english major.
