If you feel that Omega has abused his position as a Chairman of the Board please add your name to this thread.

The real question is: is it appropriate that CERTAIN paying members have the right to ABUSE other paying members, through bombs that cannot be responded to in kind or diffused, repeated redding that cannot be responded to, or the simple fact you just can't even put them on IGNORE?

This is NOT "bash the Chairman of the Board" this is about Omega's abuse, short and sweet, we have a right to protect ourselves if we're going to invest in the site, I don't consider that unreasonable -- at least give us the posting/PM option of changing our text color so we don't have to keep doing it every time we post, and PERMIT US TO IGNORE COTBs IF WE WANT TO!!

if people want omega's head, they should also want the head of all of the other platinum people who 'abused' their plat status back some time ago. bomb squad ring a bell with anyone?

don't think i am taking omega's side here, because i'm not. i am taking spellwin's. the man is just trying to add new features to the site to increase revenues. a rational man cannot usually forsee what the irrational will do, because their mind is not programmed that way.

so before anymore people piss and moan about how they are going to cancel their memberships and go to lovely forums with 500 users and 20 new posts a week, just give the man a chance to iron things out, without trying to take the bread out of the guy's mouth.
 
and giving bad karma is not abuse. people don't need a reason to give bad karma. they can do it because they dont like x, y, or z.

there are far worse people on this board, who are far more obnoxious, vile, disgusting, pieces of shit, human beings than that of omega. why not start demanding they be banned?

Omega has been removing posts that called him out. For example, MM called him out for giving her red on a post. Instead of owning-up to it, he took down her post and claimed it was "vulgar" -- which it most definately was not.

I makes me wonder how many other posts he's taken down or modified.

He abused his editing power. He needs to go IMO.

No, being bombed and giving bad karma is how this site works. There isn't anything wrong with that. For example, you could red me for this post. The problem is, MM called Omayga out for giving her red and instead of owning-up to it, he deleted her post and tried to claim it was "vulgar" -- which it wasn't in the least.

I DO have a problem with injustice, I really do. A person abusing power is not right. I don't care if its the internet, a home, the government, whatever. To see injustice and NOT say a word is a crime.

Like someone said, this place almost runs off K & Bombs. But Omega makes a point of blacking people out, just because he doesn't like them. Even that's not so bad, if you can counteract it. But Omega makes it difficult to read a thread where your favourite poster may be cavorting.

I don't see a petition created as a response to abusive behavior as being drama, I see it as one of the only logical recourses we have left to us in this environment. The other logical response is to write to customer support and complain. The problem is that a lot of people won't feel it's important enough to do that. People are VERY good at getting used to being abused. If we don't make some noise it WILL change, we WILL get used to it.

It ain't very hard to type the words, "In," or "Yo," though to show solidarity.

COTB cannot be a position of omnipotence, even the MODs don't have that right! And the MODs can't touch them. WE HAVE TO SPEAK UP!

I know exactly what to do. When people use the "moderator" aspects of the CotB status to alter content that shouldn't be touched, refund their money and deny them CotB status.

This isn't like plats and bombing. Even in the days of the "bomb squad", people knew where the bombs came from. People knew who the bomb squat was. This is different. Here, content is being altered and to people who don't catch the before-and-after edits, they never know it's being done.

There is a HUGE difference.

The difference I see is if a plat bombs you, you can buy a diffuse from the karma store and if a plat reds you, you can return the favor. Neither is the case when it comes to chairmen. Why couldn't there be a diffuse option with a higher cost for COTB bombs? Also I should be able to disapprove of a cotb's posts and be able to place him/her on ignore.

Since they can do it within thier own threads only, I think a little blurb on the post would show, "deleted by or modified by CTB name". That way we know that person sunk low enough to edit the post.

It's a tough one in some respects. The COTB seems to have been instigated for board sponsors to help them to do business on the site. Within their own threads they have a high degree of authority so that they can ply their wares without any taunting, jibes or gainsaying.

Outside of his threads he is unable to edit your posts. Within his own threads he owns your posts. If this bothers you then don't post in his threads.

Not being able to red a Chairman, even if only to vent your own spleen, seems wrong. Not being able to black them seems reasonable if you view them as being here to do business. You can still send them a 10% green with a disparaging message. ;)

Considering the vast majority of people are paying upwards of $50 a pop to fill their gas tanks, paying for an annual Platinum Membership is not unreasonable. COTB, as I understand, are SUBSTANTIALLY more expensive, and by invitation only.

Look, not reading his posts is one thing, but Omega is infringing on the rights of other paying members on this site to free speech as defined within the parameters of TOS, plain and simple. Look at this horse manure:

So taken altogether, that means that if he doesn't like what someone's doing he's gonna play vigilant and step in, cause that's what it seems to say to me. The fact is, why's he bombing people if he can't get bombed or redded in return anymore? How can ANYBODY abuse him anymore???

And by the way, since when did Hammy bomb? For that matter, SINCE WHEN HAVE I BEEN ABUSIVE?!? Who have I EVER freaking bombed?! Four people that I can think of, Ilovetolift, SlimJim, KaitlinJRob and Thread Grader. I don't think I ever said WORD ONE to Omega before this past weekend, and the only reason I said anything to him is because it sounds like he's starting to develop a God complex! Now, because I told him he's sounding like an immature little putz "I'm on his list."

I don't mind a fight, but dammit I can't stand the fact he doesn't have the honor to limit himself to the weapons I'm limited to! I have a life, I can't afford to lay out $900 on a website even if I WAS invited! Shit, OTHER COTBs are ticked at him, THEY'D go after him, but even THEY'RE hamstrung! There's no damn checks and balances.

He doesn't like vulgarity, so what's to stop him from going in and just starting to bomb everyone who swears or delete their posts because he was offended by it? Or what's to stop him from just willy nilly deleting posts because that's what he feels like doing that day?

He's basically saying, "well, I laid out this money, I've got this power, and guess what, not only am I going to use it, I think I just might start making up rules that I think are better and maybe recreate the website. Let's keep the riff raff out and while we're at it, let's enforce a little discipline among the outspoken women here."

Because THAT's apparently how I set him off, I have called him immature, ignorant, rude and a whole lot of other things, but not once have I called him an oversized mouth with an undersized dick anything else really low because I actually can respect if a person really finds vulgarity offensive. BUT remember, I have been added to his "List of MOST VILE to regulate," (and I DEFY you to find one post where I got down and dirty in my postings to him), but never the less, to the list of most vile I have been added, and the only real reason I can figure out comes from this little gem:

So apparently Omega's problem with me is that I'm FEMALE and saying, uh, yo, dude, stop acting like you're 10.

So the next time I asked him how old he was, he redded me ...

It comes down to the fact that it's creating a caste system, with some people having more rights than others simply by the fact that they are financially capable of paying the site for privileges that they never earned. Without having to EARN those privileges, and with no fear of removal of those privileges they have the potential to abuse anybody they want to.

I really like EF, I've made friends here, I have fun here, I spend A LOT of time here. I will be goddamned if some jumped up pissant young enough to be my son with money to burn is going to be my freaking censor, and I WILL NOT censor myself to keep his chauvanistic, paranoid, megalomaniacal ass happy.

Whatever, my Plat is up in the fall, the site owners will do what they see fit, and if everyone who is interesting leaves I'll just follow them, because I'll be damned if I'm going to invest in the Omega Show.

If he can run roughshod over us, then anyone ELSE who becomes COTB will run roughshod. We don't even treat non-Plats that bad! Yeah, they get hazed but it ends if you wise up and chill out and have some respect and decency for people.

Bingo. Hey if he just would have bombed some folks and talked some smack I'm all for that. The way he went about it didnt sit well with me and I've never bombed anyone, mostly because I dont pay much attention hehehe. I sure as hell wanted to bomb him though and in my opinion, deservadly so.

I dunno, green is green, how often do people really look at how much they get??? Neutral would be nice, 0%, that actually shows up as a different color so it would be noticeable.

I didn't realize the post editing/deletion feature was limited to the threads they themselves have created, I was under the impression they had a little more freedom than that. My bad.

Alright, I got it ... how about an "Immunity Zone" where COTB can do their business, and there IS no damn karma for ANYONE? THAT'S IT!!! Elite needs a MarketPlace, an area where the COTBs have absolute power and autonomy. They are the shopkeepers, we are the customers, we don't tell NOBODY how to run their store, shit, kill our avatars, siggies, EVERYTHING, just strip us down to customers who can ask questions only, and can be banned from there for whatever reason ...

But everybody should be free game in the regular forums :evil: that to me seems FAIR.
