perspectives on getting large...

I have found that as I have frequented my gym's free weights area, andspent time on BBing and PL sites, my ideas of How I'd like my body to look have changed quite a bit.

To begin with I wanted to "tone up" - ie build a little muscle and lose fat, now, however, I want to have big muscles and lift heavy weights. Actually, the latter is more important to me than the first now, another development.

Did you folks find your perspectives on the ideal body changed a lot when you started pumping iron, or did you always want to be as large as possible?

It definitely changes as you go. The formerly "big" start to look smaller and smaller and the truly big begin to look moreand more realistic and achievable. /It's a bit of a disease really. Fortunately, one can only get so big.

well...I wanted to gain enough that I wouldn't look sick all the time- which I did - 70 pounds of lbm later - I'm still trying to gain.

I don't want to be as big as possible. Eventually, I'd like to be a lean 220, but if that doesn't happen, I'm okay with that. I'm happy with looking better, even if I don't get huge.

Plus, there's something to be said for being deceptively strong.
