personal training?

Are any of yall personal trainers? I was wondering if there is any money to be made in that field maybe as like a part time job.

All about how you sell yourself really. For most PT's there is not much money to be had, but once again it all depends on how well you can sell yourself and what type of clientele you can sweep in.

My good friend charges $90/hour doing PT, but then again he's the owner of a very popular gym here and has a big reputation. On the flip side, the other guys who do personal training at that gym don't make even close to what he makes, especially after you factor in the fee you gotta pay the gym (since you are using their premises).

You'll have to pay Bally's a fee, so use them to procure some clients and making contacts. Although this may be wishful thinking and easier said then done, every city has there high class gyms in which you can rake in the dough. For instance, there is a gym here that I sampled a few times. A lot of high rollers (ie millionaires) go to this gym. It's on the 50th level or so of a business tower. Annual membership is around $5000. The personal trainers there make a killing.

Hell no the pay sucks, Ballys takes a little over half the money the client pays. You don't get paid while you aren't training, and you have to appeal to mostly women who whine about how hard it is and then have to listen to their constant babaling

That is not a problem....I am a pro at both of those. What about Golds or 24 hr? Where pays well?

commercial gyms for the most part either will collect training money from the client and then pay you hourly around half of what they charged the client(24,bally's) or you pay the house (golds). good thing is you can get benefits, and bonuses for sales of supps and training. but you top out how much you make hourly. better chances of getting more clients because much of the training is done at the point of sale with new memberships so there is a constant influx of clients.

working independently you are all on your own. you find clients, you market yourself, you pay your own benefits and you still pay the gym that you work out of. if you are a newbie trainer, best bet is to get your feet wet in a commercial gym. learn the business, build some long term clients that would follow you elsewhere and when you have enough credibility and funds, branch off on your own.
