People suck!

It happened again today. Someone said they wanted to train with me and then didn't show up. This has happened countless times to me, but maybe it just doesn't get through my thick skull that most people aren't true to their word. Maybe it's partly my fault for believing them in the first place. I get all excited to train with someone just to get let down when they don't show up. Sorry for my rant, but I figured most people on this board are more like me than regular people.

Get use to it Bigguns. Sorry to say but I have had countless of partners who train with me for a little while and just didn't show up. They just don't want it badly enough to get past the pain.

I wish I had a dollar for everytime one of my firends has told me "I am gonna start working out Monday.""I'll be over at noon to workout with you." Not ONCE, have they ever showed.

I don't bother asking anymore, and if they tell me, I never plan on them showing.

Do you have any idea how many times people have said that they were going to be here on Sunday...and not shown up???

IT happens. I've been training less than 4 years, and have already had it happen at least 30 times from 6 or 7 different people. Not everyone is as dedicated to their training.

Here here! I honestly can say I prefer training by myself. No bullshit, no waiting. In and out in 45 minutes. Let an mp3 player be your partner.

I love the excuse they make on why they couldn't get there, just say you are afraid or can't take the pain, arggggggg

The excuse I usually get begins with "Dude, I got so f***ed up last night.......<Enter same story I hear every week, here.>"

Yeah, they all start to sound the same.

Thanks you guys. It makes me feel a little better to know that you know what I'm talking about. I get so pumped up and excited about lifting and just want to share it.

I prefer to train alone most of the time. then you are the only one who can let you down.

Thats an excellent quote. Your own?

oh i understand...its happened a lot to myself as well...more so in the last few months!! but you have to understand the level we all are on compare to normal "gym rats" and sometimes people get imtimdated or don't want it was bad!! its like i told my former training partner the other day..."if they can't help you, they don't need to go with you!!" tb

They're just intimidated by the fact that you outlift them, bigguns.

Heck, I know I would be. :)

Yeah, but I'd go anyways; even with no mind to touch a weight but to just be in awe.

Same thing happens to us all the time. And there's always some type of excuse; always a variation of whatever excuse that's ever been used. What really gets my goard is that all the people have to do is call us; we can come pick them up (seriously) if there's car troubles, or meet them at another time.

I mean, all we want to do is pass on the love of doin' this stuff to others, right? Any opportunity and we're there.

Me too. Just watching strong people workout is very inspiring.

For example, say you max on bench at 200lb and then you walk into the gym the next day and see guys doing sets of 5 with 365lb. If that doesn't inspire you, then you must be dead.

Agreed! If nothing else, seeing someone else training harder than me, makes me feel like I need to pick up the intensity a notch. Most of the people on the training board are probably the same.

I decided my training partner from now on would be the power rack. It does not mess up a spot and drop the weight on me, it does not wander off to go talk to some chick in the middle of a workout, it does not whine about doing one more set or one more exercise and best of all it is always there waiting for me in the gym.
Maybe I have just not found the right person to train with, but from my past experience I would rather have them stay home than come in all half assed , complain and screw up my workout.
