Pec Tare and cycle recovery???

tombphilips

New member
I need some information.
I just tore my peck. It is a partial tare. It hurts some. It makes a horrible noise when it tares, but currently I am mostly upset.

I need to know what to do with my cycle recovery. So far the ER doc just said that steroids do not help recovery. I hope to have an appointment with an orthopedic doctor soon (may or may not need surgery).

I just finished 8weeks of Deca 300mg/week. Bromocriptine 2.5mg/day. Last shot was 9 days ago.

Yesterday I started Nolvadex and HCG. My plan was to do 500iu/day for 14days with 20mg of Nolvadex. Then go to Clomid for a standard 100/day for 1 week followed by 50/day for 1-2 weeks. (no 300 initial as I will have Nolvadex still in my system)

Throughout my Deca cycle I may have had a little testicular shrinkage maybe, but not much. I continued to have “morning wood” and no noticeable libido problems.

Should I continue my recovery plan?
Will it hurt my Pec healing?
Any changes to recovery?

Don’t tear your pec it is quite traumatic, but now I must make the best of it.

Thanks for any help.

I could really use some help.

I am not sure if I should continue my HCG.

I do intend to talk to the doctor, but I would like some other thoughts too.

I know your pain, I just got over a major pec tear for which I was out for almost a year. Start back lifting in December.

After the accident, Stopped all AAS and started HCG/nolva, then hit clomid for the 30 days. You need to get your body back to normal hormone producing level in order to heal the quickest.

I had started my cycle recovery just a day before my “accident.”

Did you actually get medical advice to complete your post cycle regime, or did it just seem like the right thing.

Thank you very much for the response.

time... nothing will heal it better than time my friend..i had a partial tear, i took two months off and just relaxed.... no lifting at all.. keep the protein high, glutamine seemed to help me recover too.. stretching slightly is also good.. when u come back take it light and strech good.. only sign of a tear i got left is the side i tore is bigger than my other side..lol

get well

I had torn my pec severa years ago. You need to restore your hormone balance which takes a long time after using any kind of nandrolone. Lots of rest, protien, and anti-oxidants will help tremedously! Take care, be prepared as it takes time to heal. You will eventually recover, but because of structural changes in the injured pec, your chest strength will diminsh by about 10-20%. If you did it with flat bench...DO NOT flat bench again, trust me on this one. It is one of the most over-rated exercises around!

I really want to thank baby_dbol, haxedout, and Phreaky for their responses. This has been and will be a little difficult for me. I was really enjoying working out and getting bigger. The gym has been part of my life for 8-10 years, but it was only in the last 2 that I really got things together. I will not do a lot in the gym for quite some time, and I will have a scar where my pec is re-attached to my arm, but I am still healthy and I can go on. From your responses perhaps you didn’t have surgery. The surgeon basically said that the pec was not attached and if I didn’t have it re-attached then other muscles would compensate, but I would not really have a pec.

I will mention this here and then I will post it in its own post.

I have no intention of doing 1 rep max lifts again. I wanted to show to myself and others what I could do. I don’t think 1 rep max lifts help much in building your body. I will not try to lift anything that I don’t think I can lift at least 3-5 times. I tore my pec trying to lift 15 lbs. more than I did the week before, and on the same weight that I tried twice the week before (unsuccessfully, but without trauma that will change the next 1 year of my life)

Flat barbell bench was already something I didn’t train, and it will be something I stay farther away from in the future.

I respect power lifters and I think they can safely warm-up (which I did, but evidently not enough) and push themselves for those 4-6x per year (I think it is fair to say that generally power lifters shouldn’t max every week in the gym either) where they max out. I am a bodybuilder and I hope I will still be one when I recover from surgery. I will not be lifting a weight I only hope to push up once.

I am not sure this belongs in this forum, but this is my public service announcement. I have learned from experience, I hope other can learn from my experience or maybe I am just confused.

Good Luck.

you sound so down. Its not that catastrophic. Just think what JP Fux has been going thru. I tore a tricept. Couldnt do upper body for some time. Yeah I know 1 year is long but im sure youll be back at it way sooner. You always hear the worst scenarios from docs. Ive had to take a full year and then some of because of lifes demands, but you get right back at it when you can. Carefully find out what you can do in the gym , at least then your not completely out from it. Ill expect to see some Platz stye leg developement . Good luck.

This injury wil change the way you train for the better. You will start to focus more on the movement and contraction, rather than the weight you're lifting. This will make a tremendous difference with your physique. I tore my pec flat benching 365lbs for 5 on my last rep. My situation was quite similar to yours, as I never really advocated the use of flat bench. I felt strong that month and felt like testing my limits. When I look back at it all, it actually was a change for the better!

If it had been a small tear or facia tear I would have said keep the cycle, it helps big time. But you tore it off the bone, with the surgery and all I would say stay off. AS doesn't do much for tendons.

That being said, it can help in the recovery I believe (for me).. I have had severe facia tears with some fiber as well in both the pec and quad. The pec I site injected into the scar tissue (knot) starting two years post injury and it still helped it disipate and heal. The quad I was 'on' and it healed completely in 10 weeks! Mind you my whole leg was black from the internal bleeding! Good luck.

Marky: Thanks. I am mostly not down. I was quite upset for about 30min (and not worried at all about the pain just about the recovery), but I don’t want that to be me so I have tried to not be down. The only thing that still makes me wince is remembering the pop and how my right side just stopped pushing.
I will work on my legs. I have never ignored them, but ironically enough I have not pushed as much as I might for concerns associated with knee and back injuries. Time to learn more about the lower body.

Phreaky: I do intend for this to be a change for the better. I was hoping that one of the best ways to prevent these type of injuries would be to not do heavy singles, doubles or triples. With your injury on the 5th rep that is a little concerning. A few other things I have heard to prevent this are:

To recognize that the muscle can grow in strength faster than the attaching tendons so after muscle growth it will take some time to have the tendons “catch up.” This was perhaps one of my bigger errors.
Warm-up – I did this, but could have been better.
Stay well hydrated- I think I had this covered

Spectre: I was trying to recover from the cycle and I will just slowly do this.

Thanks for the responses again.
