Peanut Butter + Protein?

A guy at the supplement store told me to mix peanut butter with protein for my post workout drink after weight training? What is the deal with that? He said something about boost your testosterone level…..Do you girls know something about it?

well I would say that is simply silly..... first off dont ever trust anything that you hear from someone at a supplement store, unless they LOOK like they at least know what they are talking about....then...ALWAYS do some research on your own anyway...

your post workout drink should be (depends on stats which i dont have yours)

35-40grams protien (whey)
50-65 dextrose (carbs)
5 grams glutamine
(if you want creatine in there 3-5 mg will be great.
and most important ALA. if using r-ala take 100 to 200mg if normal ALA, take 500-600mg.

the key to your post workout drink is to shuttle the carbs and protien directly to your muscle cells. your body is VERY low in its glycogen stores and it needs to be replace fast.

by taking the ala with the dextrose and protien you are litteraly pumping your muscle cells with everything you need...

by adding FAT good or bad at this time would be the WORST possible thing to do....the best time to take your EFA's is prior to bedtime or anytime after your 1st meal post workout....

Those mf ...they do everything to sell you stuffs!!:finger:

I’m 5’7” , 129 ponds and around 20%bf (I have gain some pounds because I’ve broke my leg -femur last month)

I usually take 40g of protein with 5g of glutamine - 3g of creatine and 240mg of normal ALA.. I guess I will raise the ALA a bit…and take my EFA latter..
Since you’ve been so helpful, could you tell me were I can get dextrose? :angel:

awww...look at that...hubby answered my question..hehe

the dextrose from that place is awesome, and their creatine is superb! you can get 2.5 kilos for $45!!!!!
 
Ranger Gorp Protein Bars

20+/- Scoops of whey protein powder
1 jar of sodium free all natural peanut butter
Glutamine....add to specific taste(optional)
Spring Water
4 Packages of regular oatmeal
Cinnamon and nutmeg...(optional)

Mix contents together, it will be very hard to stir, add more water, then nuke for 30 seconds...repeat this process until desired consistency....

Let cool in da fridge...then roll out on wax paper and cut into bars, use wax paper to wrap them as well, it won't stick as bad as saran wrap....

I personally just leave it in a tupperware container and eat away before and after workouts....Fun for the whole family, and great at parties...heh heh heh

That sounds yummy! How much water? How much is a package of oatmeal? :p :p :p :p :p
 
I buy the instant individual packages babe, add water until it's pretty easy to stir, then nuke, repeat until thick...like a melted protein bar...you're good to go then babe

That sounds yummy... how do you think adding cocoa for us chocoholics would change it? What about splenda for extra sweetness? And, how many bars does your recipe make?
 
This is just a basic recipe Dal'in...You can add anything to make it better...Here is another little tidbit fer ya

Protein Pudding.....Buy two large packages of fat free/sugar free choc. pudding, pour into a bowl, add equal amounts of choc. protein powder, add skim milk, mix until thick, chill in da fridge....eat away.

For extra fun, add a low fat whipped topping.....YUMMY
