pc problems, plz help

hi guys,

my pc froze, so i rebooted, then it takes me to this blue screen saying "unmountable boot volume" no biggie, i put windows xp cd in, do the /r thing, but it freezes during that. so i rebooted, then suddenly, setup doesnt detect a harddrive anymore when i booted from cd room. so i thought my HD was fried, went out to buy another one, installed in, popped in windows xp cd, boot from cd rom to install windows xp on the new HD, and setup doesnt detect a HD yet again. so i cant install windows. help plz guys

is your hard drive IDE or SATA?

Is your BIOS set to boot from the HD? If so, change it to boot from the CD drive and then restart with the Windows disk in the drive.

did you install the new hard drive properly? is it found in BIOS/CMOS setup?

after you get it working. pop the old hard drive back in as a slave, secondary drive. it should be found (hopefully) and you can copy your old files over.
