Paxil Is Freaking Me Out!

Anyone had any sides or bad experience from it???
This thread got me worried since the above descriptions
pretty much sums up what Im going through
I have no emotions.. Its like I dont give a fuck about anything
and my social life is really suffering..
Been depressed for half a decade now.
Please reply any info will help

i'm on effexor xr... been on for a month. i have weird dreams and i cannot (clitoral) orgasm often which sucks (sorry tmi)... i'm not sure if the 75 mg is enough but i'm going to wait and see. i wish i weren't on anything.

you have to remember though that everyone responds differently to these drugs also.

That's interesting. My girlfriend a few years ago was on effexor and acendin, and she had trouble orgasming. Oddly enough, her sister was on the same stuff and she said it made her more sensitve. MAOI's are very strange in the differnt reactions they produce in people.

I was on prozac for a while, and I din't like it much. No emotional highs or lows....just felt flat most of the time. Acendin was great though...sex drive went though the roof, but I couldn't cum to save my life. Eventually I got tired of the anit-d's and quit taking 'em. That was about 2 years ago, and I feel great these days. There's a lot of new info showing that MAOI's and AARI's can be very effective when taken for short periods of time, and then discontinued (which is wat I did).

The diversity of reactions is a bit scary, actually. I remember spending 6 hours on the phone with a friend who had become so paraniod he couldn't leave his house...and he was only on 20mg/day of paxil.

try inositol for depression and anxiety. I cannot be bothered to explain too much, apart from the fact that it works better than most presrip drugs.

Tried 'em all and went running back to my MAOI before I slit my wrists.

i wouldn't know. my brother took SSRI's. i went the natural route



i took 100 mg 5htp. 5htp worked for my ocd, and it suppresses appetite.
but i got serotonin syndrome. so if you take 5htp, and you start to feel like there is a heavy weight on your chest, you are getting serotonin syndrome.

X is right that Paxil is quite effective when other drugs aren?Lt. For example, it often helps in high doses with people who exhibit obsessive-compulsive disorder. However, when I send a client for a psychiatric consultation, I ALWAY ask that Paxil be prescribed as a last resort. As someone mentioned, the relatively short half-life (which is why witdrawal can be so bad) often can produce symptoms when you miss only one or two doses. The short half-life, by the way, also means that the drug tends to work a little more quickly than, say Prozac.

I?Lm kind of surprised at the number of people reporting use of Paxil here. Is this depression following a cycle? I know I always feel depressed after a cycle.

My BP went up a couple points, and I yawned a lot. These occurred for the first week, since then I have had no side effects at all.

I am not kidding when I say this drug is PERFECT for me. I am never coming off of it.

Just a note... effexor is an SSNRI, it blocks the reuptake of norep as well as seratonin, so if you experience major depressive issues because of EPHEDRINE it could well eliminate those as well.... (ephedrine, among other things, raises the levels of norep in the body, which leads to fluctuations which can lead to depression and anxiety... ever wonder why you want to eat everything in site when you come off of that crap? this is why)

I have become a hermit in some ways. I broke off all contact with my friends and I never like going in public now wtf?!?
BUT,i do focus on education now!!!!
