anyones doctor ever sugested Paxil and zanax for depression and angxiety loss of sleep?? Does it make muscle gains and weight loss more difficult? Thanks,

I take xanax, it's a good sleep remedy, and it relaxes you. However, it makes you hungry!
Beware,it gives you that hangover feeling in the morning. I don't think it hinders muscle gain.
I actually thinks it helps especially when your trying to force feed yourself bland food all the time.

Hahaha maybe you take more than what they are given me I was given 0.5 I dont get to hungry....
paxil is an older anti-depressant but fairly effective. It is a SSRI which inhibits the reuptake of serotonin. It should make you feel more mellow and help with depression. Cymbalta is a better drug. Xanax is a benzodiazapene and is habit forming. Not a sleeping med from a reputable doc. Trazadone is better, cheaper and not habit forming. Neither of these drugs will bother your body building
IDK, as far as I know, Xanax is not habit forming if taken under a doctor's supervision and according to directions. Since it's short acting (generally affects are cleared out in about 4 hours) it generally does not give any hangover effects. If anything it sort of calms the digestive tract (my husband takes it for panic attacks, and his anxiety hits him right in the gut, the xanax totally chills that out in 45 minutes). You can take Xanax on an as needed basis, which is the best way to take it, it's a terrific drug for that use.
Paxil, being an SSRI, has the potential to impact sexual function. It's long acting, takes weeks to build to effect and can have some weird ass side effects (the suicidal ideation isn't limited to teens).
Trazadone is metabolized by the liver, a downer for anyone using other products that can impact the liver, and while not a true SSRI is sort of a chemical cousin and shares many of the side effects of SSRI. It too has to build up in the system and is meant to be taken on a steady basis and needs to be tapered off properly or there can be adverse effects.
I don't get doctors. They seem to be shying away from meds that are short acting, due to the potential of misuse. You can't really misuse a drug that takes several weeks to build to effective levels in your system. But honestly, not everyone needs long acting meds, especially with side effects that are potentially quite unpleasant.

0.5 won't do shit! You need 1mg they look like blue footballs. They chill you right out!

That's a matter of individual genetics. I used paxil for many years and my psych. thought cymbalta would be better. I took it for 2 years and was miserable. Part of the misery I think was because cymbalta was not working as well as paxil. I switched back to paxil and feel better. The differences in individual chemistry can be overwhelming. Cymbalta may work better for 80% of patients but there will always be a certain percent that it just doesn't click with.
To the OP, I have panic attacks, general anxiety, and social anxiety. To me, xanax and paxil go together like peanut butter and jelly. There is also extended release xanax that has been great for my panic attacks. You just take one a day.

Thanks for the help guys so far I dont think the paxil has kicked in yet but the xanax sure stops me from hulking out.....

haha if it will make me float then I have to do it!! I usually have either 2 shots of vodka or 2 beers on fridays thats why I am asking not drinking a couple all the time.

2 shots of alcohol shouldn't be a problem. I use both xanax and paxil and I have been shit faced drunk while on them. Xanax takes a lot to overdose but it is possible.

Not my OP, but this has been interesting reading b/c I thought I was headed in the direction of needing something. My body had been using midday sleeps to deal with my anxiety. But, I've been feeling better and doing some other diet/health/POV-mindset changes and going off my birth control pill so docs can test my actual prog/test levels acurately incase of other things. Good stuff for me to know. Thanks.
