Going to do squats by myself, wish me luck

I dont have to demolish the weights, i just have to demolish YOU! Jk thanks bro

That would be interpreted at the gym I go to as 'I want to be kicked out and be a little bar-stool bodybuilder piece of crap so go ahead and get stronger than me' , basicly.

I pretty much train alone too, when im home atleast. No one else is as hardcore. Kind of sux because I like motivation from another person to push me harder, not that i cant on my own but you know.

Best Option: Tip over and hope for a soft landing

Training alone and training with a partner both have benefits. I find that training alone lends more intensity to the workout (especially if you have an mp3 player/CD Player and headphones to keep you isolated from the rest of the gym).

But every now and then a spot is nice too...

Almost all consistent training partners that I had were weaker than me. Good for them, bad for me. It was dead weight with all the questions of "should I put my legs here or should I put my arms here". The rare times that I worked out with a friend who has 500 squat @ 165 lbs produced the most intense workouts ever

how bout a little godsmack paordy!!!

I......Squat alone, inside "Y".......squat alone, you walk you bird legs out of site, i squat alone tonight!!!!! I.....Squat Alone.........

set the safety bars. . .its that simple.

Learn visualization techniques so you will succeed.

A few days ago I was maxing out on box squats. Came down and can't move. Basically I am sitting on a stool in the gym with a barbell on my shoulders, but can't move no matter what. There were safety bars, but didn't help much since I was sitting lol. Luckily some guy helped me up, damn that was embarrasing.

I perform box squats all the time, but I never get stuck.

If you get stuck. . let the bar roll off your back. . .its better than causing additional lower spinal compression.

The bad thing is, that there will be a horrific crashing sound lol.

Same thing once happened to me, but i was not maxing out i was doing a really high rep light set; i just went for one to many reps. At least you got caught with allot of weight, it was worse for me...

I would have just sat down on it for a minute than explode up if the weight was light. :)

louden_swain,

Yea I thought about letting the bar drop, but I figured it was less embarrasing to just ask the guy next to me and avoid the sound. What was even more sad is that when he tried to give me a little help, I still couldn't stand up. It looked like I was using way too much weight, but actually it was only 10lbs more than my last set (of which I had completed 2clean reps).

this was like my 8th or more set and i was at total failure so that was not gana happen, but i did try for about 3 min before i called for help.

The only traing partner I have is the power rack and we get along just fine.
I'd rather have a training partner but no one's into the stuff I do.

my training partner did the same thing; he left me for some injury bullshit (granted he is a pussy! so it should be expected...)
good luck this weekend!

thanks pills-- and I will be ready to get focking Hyuuuge when I get back so get your pink bandana ready....its game time

Exactly

I always train alone at my gym =(

Did squats last night also, just regular squats but I got stuck at parallel on my 7th rep of 8rep set, just stayed there for like 5 seconds trying to imagine it was live or die or that it was a car trapped on top of someone and they'd die if I didn't lift it. None of that helped and I had to use the safety bars, really was not good as I had to remove some weights and get it back on the rack and then add some weights again =(

Whenever I see anyone who looks like they seriously work out and they are lifting a light weight I always take it that it's a warm up or a big set, regardless I never judge anyone on what they lift anyway so don't worry about anyone thinking you were weak. Here's a paragraph of an article which I always remember when I am lifting light (i.e. warm ups, big sets or starting at a light weight on an exercise) and people watch me...

"Okay, so you like to work chest first before back. Sure, if you work your back first, you won't be able to use as much weight on bench press because you'll be tired. The big guys and the cute girls will see you using 20 pounds less and wham! There goes your credibility. They'll no longer hold the door open for you; no longer pick up your tab at the Blubber Butt Buffet; forget about letting you take cuts in front of them at the movie theater… what's that? They didn't do any of those things anyhow? Oh. Well then, what are you worried about?"
