Absolutely there are waaaaay too many. The next time you see a four year old call thier mother a bitch, you can BE SURE that THAT child is not punished by thier parents.

No offense, but that has got to be one of THE MOST BRAINDEAD comments I have heard in awhile.

As in... I was hoping that there would be someone who had a well adjusted child who didn't punish the child?

My parents didn't believe in punishment... and I don't think I ended up indulging in deviant behavior...? (or.. well... at least I think I haven't )

Ok so you are telling me that they NEVER reprimanded you or revoked a privilige or made you do extra chores or something of that sort when you disobeyed or broke the rules?

Well, certainly my parents did tell me that I have wronged when they thought so… but they assured me that it was ok. They said that I might as well make all my mistakes in my early years. While fear of punishment is certainly a deterrent my mother thought that it was not the correct motivation to do good… And… no… there weren’t revoked privileges or extra chores… Everyone makes mistakes, and some more than others…

My dad beat my ass if I did something wrong and I got my ass spanked all the time. Did it work? YES. I hated his ass for it then, but looking back on it now, I completely understand and applaud him for it. I do not want to spank my kids (when I have them) but I'm sure at times it will be needed. I'll make them go get their own switch like my dad used to have me do. DAMN did I hate that.

on the flip side, My co worker has four kids and he and his wife have NEVER spanked any of them. Those are the BEST acting, most polite, and respectful kids I have ever seen/met in my life.
He said he just shows them tons of love ad explains to them why what they did was so bad....

The above is the only case that I have seen where you spare the rod and you don't spoil the child

I havent been spanked a single time in my life and I never cuss at my parents.

I dont get in fights with them as I know they are reasonable.
Sometimes they tell me to do something and I just dont want to do it but then usually its something I know is actually right and i will do it anyway.

I do have this "feel" that I dont want to do something because they say so... Cuz I want to make my own decisions...

Its like when they tell me to do my homework already, I dont want to even while I might have gone right at it if they havent sayd anything... just some adolescent will for independance I suppose.

Anyway, i`m 16, never been spanked in my life and ive been spoilt and overtolerated but I never vandalise stuff, or disrespect people, or pick fights for the sake of it, or nick stuff, while many people i know who did get spanked do.
