parenting is going to kill me

last week, my 14 year old daughter (who looks like she's 17) tells me that one of her friends, K, is no longer a virgin. I could have predicted that one. We talk about it, and I was happy to find out that my daughter and all her other friends ARE.
today my daughter says, "K is late."
I looked at her and asked "how late?" and she tells me 4 or 5 days, and K threw up this morning.
ugh.
K lives with her mom and grandparents. Her father is in jail for molesting her sister.

aw crap.... if she's not preggers I REALLY hope this teaches her a lesson/good scare...

everyone wants to fuck, no one wants to use contraceptives. if there is a silver lining to this, hopefully it will be your daughter realizing how stupid K was, and learn from her mistake. also, very nice that you and your daughter have such an open relationship to discuss this issue. sound parenting for you.
I would seriously talk your daughter into having better, more informed friends. Her other friends seem ok. Stay away from K. That's what I would say.

well stilleto i have 4 boys. when you have a boy, you only have one penis to worry about. when you have a girl, you have ALL penises to worry about. i don't envy your situation, but i got an 19 yr old on drugs
and it's a heartbreaking nightmare.
you seem to be a very honest decent person and i'm sure you're a good parent. as long as you guys are communicating in a healthy fashion, your daughter will be ok.

I'm kind of glad she has this girl as a friend now, because it leaves us a vehicle to talk about it. she knows K just seeks attention and is insecure, and I told her that K gave up something special... for what? also that no girl ever regretted waiting. She agreed with me emphatically.

kids don't come with instructions and you have to fly it by the seat of your pants
most of the time. looking back, i see some crucial mistakes that i made. i didn't
know it at the time and i wouldn't have done it had i known.
it gets scary when they hit puberty. i like the stage before sex, god and politics.
i agree with the condom thing. i did the same. it sounds like your daughter
has some unusual insight for a 14 yr old. a little bit of emotional intelligence
and introspection will keep her out of the deeper pitfalls. the more aware
a child or adult is of their own emotional state, the more able they are to
make wise decisions and less likely to be influenced by others.

typical.. hate to say that about k...... she feels rejected by her father, and is seeking acceptance and love from any man that will give it to her..
i have a niece that is in the same boat 15, and screwing anything that will hold still... her father is in prison for child molestation... her 8yr -12 yr old step sister...
at least we talked her mom into getting her on birth control, I wonder how long before she gets genital warts..

That's the saddest part, the few that have a brain to get on birth control forget about STDs.... they'll have sex with a condom but full oral with no protection...

i'm glad that my daughter is very close with her father. She also has 3 grandfathers and a few uncles that she knows love her- it's important for teenage girls.
sadly, very few of her friends even live with their dads. most of them at least see them. This girl who is preggers- she's one of the few who doesn't know him at all.
