WTF!!! This thread is just plain fucking wrong. I could'nt give a shit what Pantera used to look like. I'm sure you probably wore Toughskins and Garanimals at one point in your life. So does that make you suck?

O.K. Well, I used to like Motley Crue 2. I remember Glam Rock, was like 15 and everyone tried to get in on the action.

Don't really care. Everyone has a sordid past. Would like to hear some of that early stuff though, might be comical.

Now those are balls. I don't think I am "tough" listening to it, music does not make you tough. It breaks forth a surge of adrenaline and old resentments = intense workout.

I also listen to Enigma alot when I sleep. Does this make me a whussy? Music is all about mood.
 
Who gives a flying fuck what they started out as. If anything they started that way to get because of what their first record company wanted and then became their true "take-no-bull-shit-hard-core-self." It's better then some band bragging about how true to their roots they are, then selling out for the money and fame.

Ok like the bands are sitting there going "know what I dont want anyone to listen to my music, I dont want to be famous and make some coin after starving all theses years"

Sell outs are those bands manufactured out of some company's mind, ie the Backstreet Boys, New Kids, N sync, Britney, J-lo/

Few bands kick ass like Pantera.

And they don't "sell out" like Metallica and Megadeth...
 
BBV, I would like to add (in Megadeth's defense) that Megadeth didn't sell out nearly as bad as Metallica. At least Dave Mustaine admitted he "sold out" with Risk, that I can respect. And then they came back heavier with TWNAH....
 
Sexual Mustard... I do agree with you. I don't think ANYONE can sell out as big as Metallica did. Twisted Sister did back in the 80's... and they died shortly after.
 
Hell sorry to piss you off WhiningHawk (let me guess you like hip-hop) but the fact that Pantera USED to be a wussy glam band then became hardcore makes me like them alot more!!! I mean I'm sick of hard bands like Metallica become pussified it does my heart good to see a pussified band become hardcore. You are too hung up on image bro, if Brittany Spaniel decided to become a hardcore metal chick and her tunes kicked ass I'd like it. I could give a FUCK about a band's image, I don't even care if they have heads. I pop the CD in and if it gets me pumping I love it and that's that.
 
Please tell me the person here who said,"if Cemetary Gates, doesn't get you pumped nothing will" was joking, because that song is about as hard as nothing else matters by metallica. Jesus, you people don't know the meaning of hardcore...
you want hardcore, download "death blooms" by mudvayne, or even "fear" by disturbed.
 
Phil Anselmo did not debut with Pantera until the album "POWER METAL". I believe this was in 1990. The reason they got Anselmo was because their previous singer was not the style they wanted their band to continue with! Ever since Anselmo joined the band, they were not as bad as the first 3-4 albums with the previous singer. I have a question though, HAVE ANY OF YOU GUYS BAGGING ON THEIR GLAM ROCK DAYS ACTUALLY LISTENED TO THEIR FUCKING CD"S? OR IS YOUR OPINION BASED ON THEIR LOOKS? Metallica was by far the premier heavy metal band of the 80's (and probably SLAYER), and Kirk Hammet always looked like a sissy, so does that mean he sucked too, back in the days of Kill 'em All? HELL NO!!! Granted, the original singer for Pantera sucked, but Dimebag still ripped a mean ass guitar!!! Besides, a lot of people bag on Glam rock days, but they really listened to it. Personally, I liked Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, etc....

No, sorry, actually I like a lot of punk, industrial, and alt-metal. Subhumans, Zombie, Bauhaus, Coal Chamber, Frontline Assembly, Rammstein, Celldweller, Cramps, Tool, Rage against the Machine...

I think rap is pretty awful, too.
Oh, but I have to add this: Pantera's suckingness isn't all about their image. Man, did you READ those lyrics? Of my lord, it gets too sad to laugh.
 
Damn, I just downloaded some of that music of Morpheus. They really did suck back then, like a cross between Whitesnake and Motley Crue's Too Fast for Love

They still Rule today
 
Old skool Pantera sounds exactly like Tesla...which sucks in a way only someone with their nuts in a vice can appreciate :)
